Best guide to Finnegans Wake I've read
This is a terrific guide to Finnegans Wake that brilliantly threads the needle between providing a page by page analysis and an overview of what is happening and what it means. I can't imagine reading Finnegans Wake without one or another guide, and this and Campbell's Skeleton Key are the very best. Highly recommended.

Spells it out and clarifies the " monster " of abstain.
Informative and understandable of a very formidable book. This book is a must in order to understand Finnegan's Wake; perhaps the Very most difficult book to comprehend. Gravity's Rainbow is a piece of cake compared to this book.

Make the right Joyce
Edmund Epstein was a brilliant teacher and writer -- a legendary figure in the development of Joyce criticism. This book is the product of a lifetime of thinking about, and reading, Joyce's Finnegans Wake. Among the many guides available, this is the best, hands down.
