Saving Grace
In Saving Grace, author D.M. Barr weaves a riveting psychological thriller that follows a woman's determination to save her life from her philandering husband's plans to take her inheritance.Grace Rendell has been treated for mental illness for forty years, when at the age of six she began hearing voices, having hallucinations, and was prone to violent outbursts. Grace has had a toxic relationship with her billionaire father, Barrington Pierrepoint, as well as with her husband Eliot and teenage sons Damian and Xander. They all have treated her in a condescending and disrespectful manner over the years. Grace is tired of the dulled/drugged life she leads, and secretly weaned herself off the psychotropic medications. Now with a clear mind, Grace believes that her husband is waiting for her to inherit her father's estate worth billions, and then remove her from his life and take the money. Grace is determined to save her life by writing a novel about a philandering husband who plots the murder of his wife for her inheritance. Grace thinks that the novel will be a literary life insurance that will prevent Eliot from acting out his plan to murder her. But the murder of her literary mentor Lynn Andrews, and the decline of her father's health, has Grace racing against time to write and publish the book in order to save her life!Saving Grace is an intriguing psychological thriller set in Northern New Jersey, that easily captivates the reader's attention, and draws them into Grace's traumatic story. Grace's determination to write and publish her book is interwoven with helping solve the murder of Grace's literary mentor, mystery author Lynn Andrews, along with Lynn's teenage brother, Joe Hackford and his motley crew of friends. As the dual storyline unfolds, it is told in a clever way, and is interwoven with enough raw emotions, chilling suspense, secrets, treachery, surprising twists and turns, and thought provoking intrigue, that easily keeps the reader engaged and guessing until the surprising conclusion.Saving Grace is a cleverly written psychological thriller that takes the reader on one heck of a rollercoaster ride.

Intriguing plot & eclectic group of characters
Is Grace Pierrepoint Rendell as unstable as she's been led to believe for almost her entire life? According to her narcissistic billionaire father and greedy placating husband, yes. But Grace believes she's more capable than even her life-long therapist does. Embarking on a pursuit to prove herself right, she uncovers secrets that could ruin those she thought she could trust while amassing allies along the way.I thoroughly enjoyed this book with its plot steers and social exposures. I recommend it to readers who don't require an indecipherable conclusion to be pulled into the story's depths.I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

A thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat!
This book is for those people who have felt marginalized for whatever reason, disenfranchised whether by society or family. Or, know someone who has…Pain is pain…and retribution is so sweet!Oh. My. Word! There were moments when I was sad, angry, scared and I even had a fist-pump moment. This was a well-written, fast-paced thriller where good and bad guys are masquerading as the other. Truly kept me on my toes trying to figure out which was which. I will admit while I was reading, my heart was racing.Grace Rendell is a 45yo mother of two teen boys and wife to a successful businessman as well as daughter to a wealthy but disgusting man. She has been on very strong meds for paranoia and other related psychoses for many years. For some reason she has decided to secretly get off her meds and finally feels some clarity. But with this clarity comes thoughts and events that Grace has been too fuzzy to question. Is it real or only a symptom of her condition? Sharing any more will ruin your reading experience. If you like a well-plotted page-turner thriller, this is a must-read book!I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens and it would get more than 5 stars if I could.

3 1/2 Stars
While I did enjoy this book, it took me a bit to get into it. In the first half to three quarters of the way through, it felt like I was reading two or more different books. I had about half of it figured out fairly early. There were a couple of surprises along the way. Overall, I did like the story line, the characters and the pace. You just have to pay attention because it's a little confusing . I will probably try another book by this author.

One of my favorite books of 2020-Fun, fastpaced and extremely well written!
Saving Grace is not your ordinary psychological thriller. It's a truly intriguing story of a marginalized woman doing everything in her power to gain her independence as well as proving to herself that she's not insane. The cast of characters that make up her team are highly unusual, but extremely colorful and effective. You will find yourself rooting not only for Grace, but every one of them as well. The bad guys are from typical, and there are some genuine complete surprises the author pulls out that are well planned and not out of nowhere like some "thriller" villains. The pacing is fabulous, and the author is so adept, there are definitely times the reader doubts Grace's sanity. This truly was an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it anyone who enjoys not just Thrillers, but any well crafted, fascinating tales.

Great Story
I flew through this exciting thriller. A great cast of characters and some amazingly well-executed twists. It’s rare that a psychological thriller contains likeable characters that are relatable, likeable and believable- this really added to my enjoyment!

Good story line
I enjoyed the first part of the novel but the latter part involved too many characters for me and the plot became unwieldy.
