Live: Roxy Music

Never got to see them live but if this is even close to what they sounded like on stage I wish I had. Excellent sound, great live set. The songs come across so clean and tight. What a great live CD. If you like Roxy music this is a must have in your collection. May be a long time before I grab another Roxy CD to listen to. This one has it all.

Too bad i was not able to see them these time. Last time i saw them it was 1979 and it was a classy fashion musical venture with a touch of pure pop. These recording sounds as great as when i last saw them, intricate, bluesy, mind-popping english rock. Never liked their version of Jelous Guy, but that is another story. Good ridance. Live girls.

This is older more mature Roxy Music I recommend it to any Roxy fan, great overview of their catalogue. If you want more fiery versions of some songs then check out Viva but this is very well done. Brian Ferry is 50ish on this recording and he sounds older but still great. Great service also.

Remembered hearing Roxy Music on a local radio station in the late 70's Rediscovered them several years ago and really like this album. I tend to like live albums over studio and this has been on constant rotation for me.

WE saw this tour in 2001, at an outside venue overlooking the Boston Harbor on a warm Summer night. The musicians were all top notch and the show was magical, the show's ending was poignant, with everyone walking off the stage one at a time......We highly recommend this CD package as it captures that very special tour in it's entirety.

Roxy's comeback was a triumph - even given the lack of new material, given the great musicianship, the energy to put on a fantastical show, and the cool vibes all around. This disc is from the same tour of the DVD, but the songs are not taken from the same performances and there are songs not on the DVD. A must have for Roxy fans and amongst the very best live albums ever made.

Pretty good; but doesn't reach the glorious heights of Viva!

From the 2001 reunion tour, (I went to the Newcastle leg). Most of the hits loved by Roxy fans, reworked to be punchier with modern musical instrument technology, legendary showmanship by Mr. Ferry and partners in crime, including a superb live solo by a female violinist on 'Out Of The Blue' (Lucy - You shone like Diamonds), I also had to laugh at guitarist Chris 'Motorbikin' Spedding, ripping the mick and looking disbelievingly, at the Ferry/Roxy fan guys, dressed in white tuxedo's and other bygone looks. Wonderful memories, wonderful songs - Viva, Roxy Music.

I have just had a cd player fitted to my car and played the Roxy Music Live album. Disc 1 perfect but Disc 2 does not down load - blank! so I tried it in a friends player with the same result - blank, no recordings.i know it's late but this was the first opportunity to play. Very disappointed.

Very good delivery. Excellent music from Roxy Music....as usual.

Vorliegender Doppeltonträger ist eine der wenigen Live-Veröffentlichungen der Glam/Art-Rockband Roxy Music, die - wie ich finde zu unrecht - mittlerweile ein bisschen aus dem Fokus neuerer Pop/Rock-Musikgeschichte gerückt sind.Mit zwei CDs und insgesamt 22 Tracks (je 11 pro Scheibe, am 2. Silberling ist zusätzlich noch ein Live-Video von "Both Ends Burning" enthalten) bietet hiesiger Live-Auszug einen breiten und vielschichtigen Auszug der 8 Studioalben umfassenden RM-Chronologie, der natürlich in erster Linie für Fans interessant sein wird.Hierauf veröffentlichte Songs stammen von der großen Reunion-Tour aus dem Jahre 2001 und wurden - obwohl viele verschiedene Aufzeichnungsorte berücksichtigt wurden, u.a. Wien, Stuttgart, Tokio uvvm. - meines Erachtens sehr homogen, flüssig und gefällig aneinandergereiht. Die Übergänge funktionieren überraschend reibungslos und die Dynamik (im Gesamten gesehen) leidet keineswegs unter dem (vermeintlichen) Flickwerkcharakter. Jene Personen, die sich für die Soundkonzeption hiesiger Silberlinge verantwortlich zeigen, haben also gute Arbeit geleistet - großes Lob diesbezüglich!Obwohl die meisten der hierauf enthaltenen Tracks für sich betrachtet atmosphärisch gesehen nicht ganz an die Studiooriginalaufnahmen herankommen (wie z.B. der geniale Ohrwurm "Oh Yeah!"), offenbaren sie andererseits häufig einen reizvollen, neuartigen Live-Charme, wie etwa das stark dargebrachte "More Than This" oder "Jealous Guy", um hier nur 2 Beispiele diebez. zu nennen.Nicht umsonst galten die Briten lange Zeit "nur" als passable Live-Band, was gewiss auch darauf zurückzuführen ist, dass etliche Songs - vor allem vom Sound her (und mit den technischen Mitteln der 70er bzw. 80er-Jahre) - einfach verdammt schwer hinzubekommen sind/waren. (Anm.: Ich persönlich glaube trotzdem, dass etwa die Live-Scheibe "Viva!" auch einige Gustostückerl anzubieten hat, so etwa eine ausgedehnte, stimmige Version von "If There Is Something", das aber auch auf vorliegendem Werk schön dargebracht wird).Fazit: Diese Live-Zusammenstellung gibt das wieder, was sie verspricht und deckt ein großes Spektrum der durchwegs überschaubaren Gesamtchronologie der britischen Kultband ab. Sound und Konzeption sind völlig in Ordnung und manchmal bietet sich sogar ein neuer Zugang zum einen oder anderen (vorab bekannten) Song.Fans werden an dieser Veröffentlichung nur schwer vorbeikommen und auch nicht so glühende Anhänger könnten es durchaus hiermit versuchen (wobei ich dennoch zunächst die Studioalben - vielleicht bis auf "Manifesto", das mir persönlich nicht so gefällt - empfehlen würde).Kurz: Eine tolle Live-Kollektion mit großartigen Songs und schönem Klangbild, daher: +++++---- Anspieltipps ----- CD 1 -- Re-Make/Re-Model- Ladytron- My Only Love- Both Ends Burning- CD 2 -- More Than This- If There Is Something- Avalon- Jealous Guy- Virginia Plain- Editions Of You- Love Is The DrugP.S.
