What Makes Us Mighty: Firefly

It’s What’s Inside That Counts
As others have noted, the drop in the physical quality of this book is noticeable. I always appreciated the quality of the previous books and their price point. Here, the book is more like a paperback slapped between a hard cover. Instead of buttery-soft the paper is stiff and the book will not remain open on a page by itself—just like a paperback. And, the dust jacket looks like something printed on someone’s home computer; no texture or depth. At a $1.00 more than previous novels released earlier this year, inflation has clearly hit this publisher. That being said, it’s what’s inside that counts and I continue to enjoy this series. The whole men bad, women good vibe was a bit over-done but, I return for the interactions between the Serenity crew—the digs, ripostes, and repartee between the crew are so much fun— and the author did a great job fleshing them out. I, too, hope the drop in quality isn’t a sign of trouble for the series. These characters are such gems and I want to continue to follow them on adventures through the ‘verse.

back in the verse
These novels play out like an episode of the tv show and are fun read. Its always great to be back in the verse.

Disappointed there's no bookmark and price drop after buying.
I've just started reading the book. Disappointed in that the quality of the book itself is less than the others in the series. There's no bookmark and the slipcover is not the same quality as the other books. Plus the price dropped after purchasing. It's a good read, it seemed like the crew of serenity to me. I think the writing captured the essence of the characters. While reading the story I could imagine the actors saying the lines. It's a good read. 4 stars because of the design of the book itself and the price drop, hate when that occurs.

Very good!!
This honestly felt like the best firefly book of the new series so far. It reflected the characters more so than the other books did, don't get me wrong when they were good just not as good as this one. There is humor and a lot of fanservice if you knew where to look and what you're looking at. Ihope there's another book after this.

Great episode!
Loved it! A bit violent for my taste, but a very interesting story. My favorite aspect was that all characters had a lot of "screen" time. We, the Browncoats want more shiny stories, please and thank you.

Would have been better IF
Why is it that everyone these days has to insert LGBTQ+LMNOP garbage into their writing in order to virtue signal. The book was great aside from the gratuitous references to peoples pronouns. It added nothing to the story and just felt, as I said, gratuitous.Oh well, other than that the book was great.

Another awesome Firefly novel
I was so excited when my pre-order came through on my Kindle. It did not disappoint. I can't wait for the next one.

Don’t be put off by the ‘political’ reviews
Knocked a star off for the lesser quality of the book cover and lack of bookmark, plus a couple of editorial mistakes. I hope this isn’t a sign that these books aren’t making money because I’d hate to lose them.In terms of the story, I was concerned by a couple of reviews about the author and politics etc but unless you’re so sensitive that if sexism is mentioned (not the main plot by the way) you become an angry keyboard warrior, you’ll be fine with this book. I enjoyed the plot, perhaps was a little rushed at the end but everything else felt authentic to the series.

Great series of books
Great series of books, love the way they are written, only one in the series Ghost Machine was unreadable because it jumped around all the time and was boring, all the rest couldn’t be put down

These books are a great way to explore firefly even after the series ended.

Quality Downgrade
The quality of the book itself is less than the previous ones in the series. The texture matte cover has been replaced by a very stiff gloss cover and the ribbon book mark is absent. Disappointed with the inconsistentcy in quality.
