Wines of South America: The Essential Guide

It's great to finally have a comprehensive, current resource for South American wines. My personal expectations were much more of a map/regional intensive (love maps), and less producer-based. However, the work that went into this book makes it an invaluable resource for really digging into these wines, understanding the producers, and a tremendously helpful guide for tastings from South America. Seriously, love this book.

Informative and very complete! A really wonderful introduction to the wine regions of better (Argentina and Chile) and lesser (e.g. Brazil) known wine-producing countries of South America.

Chock full of current and dense information on this important wine growing continent.

The best book so far in English that provides detailed and relevant information on the wines of South America (hence the title). For those of us studying for the WSET Diploma, this has served as an invaluable resource to complement information found in other books such as The Oxford Companion to Wine. This book however goes farther in-depth in regards to terrior, grape varietals, laws and viticultural practices. There is also a great list of producers at the end of every chapter that ties in all the information together. Even if you have a passing interest in South American wine, this book is a great addition to have in any wine library.

It is what you need to have if you want to study wines from South America.
