Lovely item
Researched this many times over before taking the plunge and was not disappointed. Fits in well between my 17mm F1.2 and 25mm f1.2. Great carry around lens and has been the only lens carried on quite a few occasions. Very sharp. No focus clutch but thats not missed. Great construction. Research if interested, recommended.

Superb Quality.
Looking at buying many times but felt it was to expensive, then Black Friday came with over two hundred pounds off which made a huge difference.Upon testing the lens it was everything I hoped for, image quality is good, close focus is excellent, this will be one of my out and about go to lenses.I have fitted a circular polarising filter for protection and image quality.

Superb quality, sharp, fast, comapct lens
If you need a quality fast, compact and light weight lens for 40mm then look no further.Very balanced on either OM1 or EM5.Sharp, high quality image's with great bokeh.Great travel lens as this takes up little space in your camera bag and light weight.Weather resistant design also a bonus

Nice compact standard lens
I have only had a short time but have enjoyed using so far. I got this to replace my aging Lumix 20mm f1.7 which was my first m/u43 lens. It focues fast and silent. Like all Olympus / OM System Pro lenses it is well built. It would have been nice if it had the manual focus clutch personally not bothered about the lack of the funtion button. I have used it with both my Olympus and Panasonic bodies and works great. If you are looking for a small fast lens in the standard focal range then this is one to consider. The only slight negative is I bought this as a warehouse return item and the lens wrap was missing which was not mentioned when buying. But the lens and box were in new condition.

Just the lens I was looking for
This lens is an ideal focal length for me these days, I have been a photographer since 1970.I was using the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 , but this lens is much superior, albeit heavier and longer , focus is almost instant, and the manual focus is also perfect for me, I use an assigned button on my camera, and prefer it this way.and I can confidently use CAF.The image quality is on another level it is super sharp, also the colours it produces are very nice and my resultant photos look very professional. It beats having to schlep around a big camera and other lenses an excellent do it all solution for me anyway.

Top quality pro lens with nice focal length.
Produces top quality images. A nice focal length and handy size to carry around.I was trying to decide between the 17mm and 25mm Pro primes then saw this, really nice lens, the F1.4 isn't a big difference from F1.2 and helps keep the size down.

watch the price
No complaints about the lens, but just be aware that the price on Amazon fluctuates quite a bit. I paid £649 for my copy but it was down to £551 just over a month later.

Unusual focal length lets it replace a 35 and 50mm lens for many
The Olympus OM System M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 20mm F1.4 PRO is a delightful, compact prime lens. Compact in this case is 71x64mm. The lens has a 58mm filter diameter. In the box you get a microfibre style lens pouch (it’s not rigid) and a lens hood. The pro moniker gets you an excellent lens with extra coatings to reduce errant light effects to improve your photos; finally it has a fluorine layer that makes it easier to clean the lens. The 20mm F1.4 Pro is also weather sealed lens with an O-ring that will seal to your camera if it is weather sealed too allowing for use in light rain/ splash conditions. The lens hood reverse attaches to the lens when not in use though it covers up the manual focus ring; it is textured on the inside to reduce internal reflections; though it hasn’t been sunny enough to test its effectiveness. With the crop factor on micro 4/3rds sensors the 20mm lens is a 40mm equivalent lens in 35mm terms which is an interesting choice between the more common 35 and 50mm’s focal lengths. The lens has a quiet and rapid autofocus; though if you prefer it also has a large buttery smooth focus ring taking up most of the length of the lens. Focussing is all internal and there isn’t any significant focus breathing. There is very little distortion in the lens; lines stay straight in normal use. It also is sharp through most of the usable aperture ranges. The centre of the frame is very sharp at f1.4 and stays that way to F11 which is all the range I need for most circumstances. The edges are good at 1.4 but are sharpest from about f2. There is a vignette to images at f1.4 that is gone by f2; but nothing lightroom couldn’t fix. Its deepest winter and I haven’t managed to get too many bright shots to test fringing but on the few I have it seems well controlled. You get stars at F16; these are clear on one of the street shots. The wide f1.4 made taking handheld photos at night for the review much easier; there isn’t any stabilisation in the lens though; so if your plan is to use it in low light photography you may want a tripod or other stabiliser. At 40mm effective focal length it works as a portrait lens too. Helping with that there are 9 feathered rounded aperture blades which give a delightful blurred bokeh. The short 25cm focus distance helps with this. At f1.4 you can get a tack sharp eye, with each eyelash visible with a smooth background. The 40mm effective focal length it is an unusual one and has given me pause on the rating. I went with 5 stars as I see it as a great lens to choose if you want a 35 and 50mm prime. You get use to the length very quickly; and it works as a great compromise for both; the short focus distance and lovely bokeh helping with portraits.
