Great book for my Dyslexic son
My 8 year old son has dyslexia. He has short term working memory issues on top of other things. However these books aren’t repetitive and don’t use the same words on every other page which is great for him and helps alleviate a lot of his frustrations. Plus they are entertaining to him and read like a book, not a comic book style. Comic book styles are hard and not fun to read to your kid, these are great.

Fun for emerging readers
My 5 year old son got hooked on this series of books from the library but they don’t have the first book so we got it for him for his bday. He’s a beginning reader and can read lots of the content and he loves the pictures and fun that the mouse and his robot get into. Fun to get him hooked on reading with robots and some graphic novel pages too!

A great for early readers
I always go to book reviews on Amazon hoping for pictures of the inside of the book. I purchased this as a gift for my 6 year old step son, at his request. I was skeptical because he knows plenty of sight words...but has yet to begin reading to us at home. FRET NO MORE, the boy read us 3 chapters of this book and wanted to do more!If you’re wondering about the layout, it is in full color and is considered a picture book in my opinion but there are about 1-2 sentences on each page, and the pages as a whole are covered in illustrations. Making this book perfect for those who are still interested in pictures but that are also starting to read..not too many words like other chapter books. The story was great. We enjoyed it so much that we now own them all. I like that it is in full color, and that the illustrations are masculine(maybe that’s not the correct word)? I sometimes find that he is disinterested in some books because the pictures aren’t intriguing to him, but these are vibrant and eye catching.I also come here looking for book recommendations, soooo he is also interested in Dogman, captain under pants, of course. Super turbo, the bots, Caternauts, and the bad guys. Again, he is 6 and knows plenty of sight words, and has just started to be able to read and comprehend. We read to him every night at bed time, and let him decide if he wants to help us read or not.

Great Series of books - My Grandson really likes them
And I like them too. I learned about this series when visiting family and saw that my 6 yr old grandson had two (of the 9) books in the series. His mother liked them as they didn't have offensive words (like fart and poop and snot and other stuff that so many young people's books seem to have these days. It is male-centered in a world (it seems) of books geared to girls these days -- and the male-figure ones are outlandish in wording and bodily-function jokes. The main character is a boy mouse and the adventures are fun for young boys who want to be a hero of sorts in a simple life. The Mighty Robot is the hero but his owner is 'the little boy mouse'. Fun for adults to read out loud and many simple words so young readers can want to read them too. At first my grandson was disappointed that the 'new' books were a reprint edition of the ones he had but then he realized that the pages were thicker, the graphics cooler and now he wants new books of the two he already had (which he found a a used books store/thrift store). Even the older edition books he read at the library had torn pages (thin newsprint pages). So he agreed the new books would work out just fine. He was super surprised that his grandmother was able to find all the books he was missing (the other 7) and they arrived a few days into her trip - lots of time left to read them all.

Grandson loved it
Bought this book for my 7 year old grandson. He has been having trouble with reading so, therefore, doesn't like to read. This book holds his interest. He told me he "loved it". I'm looking to get him more in this series and hopefully his reading skills will continue to improve.

FANTASTIC books for getting young kids hooked on reading!
I cannot recommend this series of books highly enough! I ordered the first one because my younger son, aged 6, isn't as interested in books as the rest of our family, and I hoped he'd like the story and the full-color, full-page illustrations. He's in first grade and is reading well, but he doesn't usually want to read on his own. After reading this book, though, he's hooked! He read it by himself, then he asked if he could read it to me. I immediately ordered the next three books in the series, and he ran out to the mailbox every day to see if they had arrived (thank heavens for two-day shipping)! He tore through those books in a few days, so I ordered the rest of the series. Every day as soon as he got home from school he asked about when they'd be delivered. They just arrived yesterday, and he begged to be allowed to read more last night before lights-out time. I can't believe the turnaround in this previously uninterested reader! Now I just need to find similar series to keep his interest going.

Kid suddenly interested in reading
My son is 5. This series has motivated him to read like none other. It’s a big kid comic book with over 100 pages (and probably no more than 100 sentences, haha) stuffed with sight words like CRASH, POW, and BOOM, which he finds far more interesting than HAT or TREE. I catch him trying to read the book on his own using what he know. He loves Dan Santat’s books and Captain Underpants. This series hits the sweet spot for a kindergartener who knows the alphabet and alphabet sounds and some phonics. Side note, I am delighted that he prefers reading theses books over the hypnosis from the school-issued, school-controlled iPad. (Parental controls disabled, booooo). Yay for Ricky!

Turned my son into a reader!
My 6 year old son cannot get enough of Dav Pilkey’s books. He’s the reason he loves to read. Both this series and DogMan are so engaging for young kids. I would recommend these books for kids who are learning to read and have them read them along with you. My son has grown leaps and bounds in reading because of these books.

Short and slightly sweet
My son adores all Pilkey's other creations so we bought him this in the hope it might entertain for a while. Well, it did. Just for about 1/2 an hour until he finished it and wrinkled his nose. "It was OK" he said, "prefer Captain Underpants though". If you're on the ropes and only Pilkey will do then this might keep the wolf from the door for 30 mins but that's about it. Refer to Pilkey's other (solo) works first and treat this as a last resort.
