Reports watts vs. time for subsequent analysis
This 'smart plug' has a to my knowledge unique feature of reporting the consumption to a cloud service, allowing the actual consumption as a function of time to be read from a browser or an iPhone. It allows download of a csv file for analysis, all without additional hardware or any software hacks.There are other systems available which do this, but I am not aware of anything which is so fuss-free and provides this rich information on consumption at this or a better price point. I have had one for about 5 years to monitor a remote sump pump, allowing me to determine the amount of water and to check for breaks, locked rotors, etc. remotely. It is expensive -- but the time saved in the trivial implementation quickly makes it worth while.Take a look at the Boss 'Atmospheres' software to see what's possible.
