Disappointment with a twist; yet I will keep it
Update: I will go from 3 to 4 stars; I am still disappointed by the microphone part.I bought this expensive headset mainly for the boom microphone. I often have to take phone calls in noisy environments, and the caller can barely hear me over the noise, be it voices, traffic or other activities. I partially solved the problem using a wired headset with boom mic, but those tend to be too low volume and not to isolate _you_ very well, although the caller will hear you OK.So I jumped to this active noise cancellation headset with boom mic. Guess what: the ANC works very fine; I finally can spend two hours in NYC metro system without headaches.BUT the bloody microphone gets every little noise around me, and my friends cannot hear me over the kids talking 20 feet from me or the cars 50 feet from me, although the microphone is millimeters from my lips. The obvious solution is take out the accompanying wire, plug it into the headset and phone and use the microphones of the phone (Galaxy Note 4). I don't know how Samsung managed to do it, but my voice suddenly becomes crystal-clear at the other end of the conversation. BUT this beats the purpose of having a _hands-free_, since I have to hold the phone in my hand. I need the hands to be free for typing, drawing, etc. I know a BT solution is possible, because of this: Wireless Truck Driver Bluetooth Headset with Boom Microphone (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EYC9U0U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). This Truck Driver set has a stupid isolation. Whilst the caller hears me quite well, I am overwhelmed by the noises around me. The boom mic does its job; why couldn't Golzer, a much better company, do the same?I will return the headset, and buy another one (probably also Golzer), with just noise suppression (once you got rid of the destroying noises of the underground, you cannot go back).Pity; I enjoyed the sound quality and the muffling of the damned subway. It is a real jewel, made with quality materials and with obvious know-how in sound-rendering. But the external microphone is a fatal flow. It is not better than the internal microphone.

Good & Bad - May Have Received a Defective Unit
PROS:- True memory foam ear pads and head pad. This is the same type of memory foam you will see in high-end pillows, etc.- Ear cup backing is metal.- Plastic feels pretty good and is a mid-to-high grade mix.- ANC better than Beats Studio.CONS:- Sound is a on the muffled side. Definitely not clear or detailed.- Volume is very low when ANC is off. This is a big issue when you don't need the ANC engaged and want to save battery.- Adjustment sliders are low quality. For the general build quality of the unit, I'm surprised this aspect was made so cheaply. Clicks are not well defined.- Even at the smallest setting (adjustment arms not extended), the headphone is loose. Clearly, if you have an average, yes, average-sized head, these may not fit you. If you have a big dome, they'll fit.- ANC prone to "feedback". Not sure If I received a defective unit, but when the headphones moved around, there was a loud screeching sound caused from the space created between the ear cups (broken "seal").

Impressed
Very impressed with these headphones.Fits my adult male head well, grips securely but doesn't feel like a vice. The earcups are soft and comfortable. On a medium volume there doesn't seem to be any sound leakage at all. The construction seems fairly solid. The Active Noise Cancelling works well. With it off the sound is very tinny, so I leave it on. I am otherwise happy with the sound. I have had in-ear monitors that cost a bit more that sounded better, but for my application (wearing at work to listen to music and concentrate) they sound great. Some of the details make these headphones worth 5 stars. In addition to the boom mic that can be plugged in, there is a built in microphone as well so you can take a call without needing to fumble for the mic if it's not plugged in. L and R are written in large text on the inside, much easier to find then a tiny letter printed on the outside or bottom like others I've had.Included with the headphones, beyond the charging cable and boom mic, are a standard 3.5mm audio cable, and also a converter for the double-pronged airplane connectors you sometimes see, which is a nice touch.

Microphone level far too high --> Clpping the voice
The headphone itself is not bad and reasonable pricing for the quality, feel and features, however:1) The first unit I received was dead. I returned it for exchange (great to have Amazon Prime...)2) Once I received the 2nd unit, it works well for listening music, but the boom microphone (main reason why I purchased this headset) does not work as expected. The microphone level is far too high, even when whispering the voice is clipping. This too high microphone gain reduces also the signal to noise ratio and catching every single surrounding background noise (while the purpose of the boom mic was actually to reject background noise...)Too bad, this could have been a good headset, but this small thing (likely just a firmware setting in the codec) kills all the advantages of the product
