Disappointing
Was expecting a creepy, dark spine-chiller but was disappointed. It's very short and feels like it's rushing towards the conclusion which isn't that unexpected. Not sure if it's the writing style which is flat and sparse (although with the odd flash of deadpan humour which I enjoyed) or the fact that from the outset you feel you know the explanation for what's happening and therefore you are not particularly surprised or shocked by the developments, but it felt there was a lack of atmosphere or suspense. It read almost like a film script with exposition and dialogue but needing the bare bones to be fleshed out by the acting, lighting, music score. In a book, especially in the horror/thriller genre, it needs the bare bones of the plot to be given tension, fear and dread by the quality of the writing - but in this case I felt the author failed to deliver.

Disturbing but not entertaining
I really couldn't get into this, mostly because I didn't like the protagonist and felt she want fighting this demon that had possessed her strongly enough. The book was sort of comedic and then suddenly grew very dark, but not much happened at all. I actually found it boring and a bit of a core to read it. I thought there were interesting parts, but I hate spending hours with characters that didn't even seem to want to fight tho live. It could have had a much stronger ending, and middle, actually.

A nice quick read that pulls you in from the first page
I had heard alot about this book so I went in with high expectations. It definitely grips you from the first page and the story gets going immediately. The first half developed rapidly and I was fascinated with the story and wondering if Amanda was truly possessed or was it merely mental illness? After half way,I found the story lost the momentum a little and although the writing style changed to reflect the main characters chaotic mind, it was a little hard to keep me absorbed.I would have loved to have had a bit more explanation about what had happened to Amanda and where it had come from. I was left with more than one unanswered questions, which im sure was the writers intention so it is open to interpretation, but I found it left me not fully satisfied. This was a quick read that I devoured in one sitting and is definitely worth the time!

Frightening and Creepy
A frightening horror story that I read in one evening. Couldn’t put it down and wanted to find out what would happen. Great for a quick, scary read. This was the first book I have read from this author and I look forward to reading more from them.

Chilling
A little book that packs a big punch. This story is written incredibly well and has so many layers. It is one of those books you find yourself discussing a lot. Highly recommended.
