A book of short stories that will remind us of the grandma stories (but with a newer twist)
I bought this book, for knowing the stoey behind the asanas, but on reading the very well structured book, I seemed to have skipped the Ectymology of the Asanas (1 page per chapter at the end of each chapter with the Asana pose) but I fell in love with the stories mentioned here. The stories here have a a very good combo of lessons from 3 ancient religions, Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. The fantastic part of each (most of the stories) is how the same story has different learnings in each of these 3 religions.I have even gifted this boom to parents who had to sit with thier kids due to fever symptoms, and have the best stories narrated to the kids.Has a good number of stories that inculcate faith and values via mythological stories.. now Progressing into more books by Devdutt.

Linkage between Indian Mythology and the practice of Yoga
This book has all the ingredients one expects from Devdutt Pattnaik's books - the elegant illustrations the lucid style , the simplicity of language - plus we have Mathew Rulli's Yoga poses .One thing which could be added could be the physical and mental benefits attributed to the 64 yoga poses . While it is there in a few it is not mentioned in many others . That could have given a bit of completeness to the description.

A quick read!
~Yoga Mythology: 64 Asanas And Their Stories is a unique read that aims to provide information about yoga asanas or postures that are widely practiced for better physique, respiration and over-all health..~Finding its origin in India, these asanas have names derived from various characters that are often called mythical, the reader learns a great deal about them through this quick read.

Not a super engaging read
I thought I would get some interesting stories about yoga poses, but most of the info is quite basic or not even related to the pose. Got for bookclub, wouldn't recommend.

To find out the spiritual background of postures
Devdutt's wide knowledge on this subject and his beautiful little illustrations. While I can understand the need to show the postures . They are quite advanced they may frighten some older practitioners of Yoga. Can hardly wait to read more of his magnificent books.

Disappointed.
The writing is poor. I love stories of asanas, but these are just terribly written.
