The Hidden Paperback – February 24, 2021

4.5 stars. The Hidden, bk#5 in the Fantasy/Space Opera Kelderan series, by Jessie Donovan brings a wonderful addition to the story of Vala and Thorin from book#2, The Barren. Readers should be sure to read The Barren before beginning The Hidden as the latter is NOT a standalone novel. The Hidden picks up with Vala and Thorin on the planet Jasvar which has recently received a new influx of colonists from the home planet of Kelderan. These people, of various backgrounds and races including Vala and Thorin, have been given an opportunity to live fuller and richer lives than ever believed possible on planet Keldera.The Kelderan series is one of my favorite fantasy series. I recommend it to Sci-fI romance, shifter romance, space opera, and readers of HEAs. Jessie Donovan also writes a dragon-shifter series (beginning with Sacrificed to a Dragon/#1) that are great fun.Reader Cautions - Not recommended for YA readers or readers who would be offended by the following content.Profanity- yes. Strong language less than 5/6 times.Violence - None, but there are perhaps triggers present for some readers: 20 years in the past, and well before this series begins young women were sexual assaulted by enemy soldiers while living on the planet Kelderan. A few of these women briefly recall their past in The Hidden. The events are mentioned briefly but not reviewed in detail.Sexual situations- yes. Several on-scene intimate scenes occur between the 2 married main characters of perhaps a 3.5 on 0-5 Very Sweet to Very Steamy scale.

This was the book I did not think I needed and I loved it! It was awesome to see a whole new chapter for Thorin and Vala. It was also great to see new characters and new possible book ideas.Character breakdown;Thorin: he has come a long way since the first book he was in. His so much more open and has much more open feelings thanks to Vala. But what I loved more was his reaction to everything that happened to him and Vala. Oh and him carrying a baby? *ovaries overloaded*Vala: I've always loved the female but wow had she changed so much. I loved how dedicated she was to changing societal rules. How accepting she was and how easily she knew Thorin, she was my spirit animal.Favorite Quote: Cellig laughed. "I hope you do keep in touch, Yelka. Anyone who can unsettle Thorin is someone I admire."It's is HARD to write this without spoilers, but this book most be read without them, just be reminded it is not a stand-alone. This is a follow-up story of Vala & Thorin. (Also love to know more about Orlain)

I love this series by Jessie Donovan. I loved that I was able to read more about Thorin and Game's lives.I can't wait to see what happens in the next one and I hope there will be more about the babies as they grow.

You should have already read “The Barren” to know Thorin and Vala. These two are just so perfect together. They are always hot for on another and that is the best. These two are trying to make things better for everyone. There is so much that needs to change. I do love the surprise. I’m glad. Everything is a learning experience. The world is changing for all and it looks like it is finally for the better.

I loved Vala and Thorins story, so this was a special treat. I couldn't put the book down. Looks like we have some new characters that are going to keep things even more exciting.

Good read! A little too short for my liking lol!

Loved it! I love the faster little Novellas that tell us the in between stories and help develop the characters even more. Vala and Thorin are so adorable!!

I loved revisiting Thorin and Valas story , can't wait until the next book in the series comes out! Definitely will pre order!

Vala and Thorin's follow-up story. Now mated and living on Jasvar, they begin to look for other part Brevkans within the Kelderan colonists.When Thorin notices that tells red band on Vala's leg is slowly disappearing, he becomes concerned but it's only after other symptoms start to show, that Vala begins to fret. Getting a doctor to run checks, he asks Vala and Thorin to follow him to the medical area so he can do some tests. As he has read Vala's medical file which gives the reason why she had been sent to the Barren, his surprise is understandable. Vala can have children. Wanting to test Thorin, Vala asks him for time, so she can reassure her mate.After learning of the diagnosis, a stunned Thorin arranges a meeting with other part Brevkans, of which ten individuals attend. One woman chooses not to take part but the rest begin talking to each other. Knowing what waits in his future, slowly information about Brevkan traits and similar data is collected together for future reference. As everyone may have experienced different things, a record of what could happen would help.Some months later, there are several infants and a large audience of adults to watch over them. Prince Kason speaks to Thorin while holding their offspring, comparing notes and knowing what their mates will act.A gripping read and thoroughly enjoyed the flow of the story. Can't wait for Kajala's story.

Vala and Thorin's story.Having moved to a new planet, Vala and Thorin must overcome some trials about his past.Vala is going through some changes as well.Will they survive the changes?Well, you'll have to read it for yourself.I was given this book as an advanced reader's copy to give my honest review.I also have purchased this book.

I really enjoyed this book! I'm not going to give any spoilers but if you're a fan of the series you need to get this book! I just love this story with Vala & Thorin!

So nice to go back to these characters and see some more of their happily ever after. Fun quick read and i can't wait for the next book.

Another really great story.l loved this series and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
