Great books!
I bought these for my 9 year old grandson. He reads all the time! He usually reads non-fiction so I wanted to get him a set of fictional books that would hold his interest. He loved the set! It was a huge hit!

Amazing
Trying to get my 10 year old to read is a struggle but he is obsessed with this series. The writing is a good size for Him to follow, it has great teaching moments as well. For an outdoorsy kid these are amazing

My Almost-5-Year Old Enjoys These Books
My son will be 5 years old in two months. He enjoyed Robinson Crusoe Written Anew for Children. So I bought him The Hatchet series. I finished reading him the first book two days ago. He found the beginning boring. It was not surprising since a lot was about Brian's relationship with his mother and her extramarital affair. But once the plane crashed and Brian had to survive on his own, my boy got quite engaged. He often came up solutions to Brian's problems. Some solutions were laughable (in a good way), but others were quite good. I started reading him Brian's Winter. I'll report how it goes. EDIT: We are now at book 5. I will probably finish the whole series tomorrow or the day after. My child enjoyed Hatchet and Brian's Winter the most, as these are more action packed. The River was okay. Brian's Return was less interesting as it is more philosophical than actions. He found the first third of Brian's Hunt boring but the rest of the book interesting.
