Surprised by how much I dislike this
I love things that light up. I also love yoyos. I already have a light up yoyo by a different company but it has a transaxle not a bearing so even though I loved its lights it just wasn't cutting it so when I came across this yoyo I was pretty stoked!I thought it would be awesome. I already own a couple other yoyoz (that don't have lights) by this brand and I like them so i figured I couldn't go wrong. The main reason i was interested was because it was a "light up" yoyo with a 'bearing'. I saw it came with extra batteries which was a great selling feature and it also boosted about having an on/off switch so it won't activate by accident wasting the batteries. Sounded great i was soldMy excitment quicky faded to buyers remorse and frustration right after i recieved it and started checking it out.Right away once it was in my hand I realized how horribly UGLY it is. The view is big bold yellow font on a smoked color transparent body with a gaudy green circuit board staring back at you. Seriously, in person it's cringe worthy, definitely looks worse in person.I figure I'll get over the ugly since it's gonna be lit anyway, so time to test it out.It came with the normal items, extra strings a satchel to carry it in and a yoyoing glove in addition to the promised extra set of batteries . After i get a string on it i go to use it excited for the light show But the on/off switch is actually a tiny button that is in a little hole almost like the way reset buttons are, and there are 2 of these , one for each side. Not a chance you're gonna turn it on or off with your finger, i had to find a little pokey tool just to press the little button.Nothing happened when i pressed the button however. Nothing happened when I tried it out and did a few tricks. Not even a blink. I push the button a few times more but still nothing. So I take it all apart and go to take out the batteries and it blinks. I figure it must have just needed the battery to be reseated... maybe. Time to repeat the whole process again for the other side. Keep in mind each side has its own batteries, circuitry, its own ridiculous on/off buttons etc.Well the 2nd half wasn't so lucky and did nothing after reseating the battery. I decided to Test out one of the extra batteries and sure enough it blinked up bright.I get it all together and go to use it only to find the 1st half that i got working was not working at all now. So again I took it all apart and this time just decided to try the other extra battery and sure enough , lit right up..i decided to Test the batteries i removed and sure enough they were the issue they were Both dead. They had arrived drained! So much for extra batteries. This annoyed me because it's not a battery I just keep laying around so knowing it came with extras was a selling point for me and now it felt like a lie.Now it was all lit up like I wanted...only it wasn't what I had expected. The leds just stayed on, no patterns or changing colors, or transitions, just red and yellow lights on. As a matter of fact the red yellow solid lights actually accentuated its UGLINESS , i didnt expect THAT. AT this point I'm really not happy about this purchase and I don't even want too look at it anymore so I go to turn it off but oh yeah need to find a poky tool again. I can see how that will always be an annoying inconvenience, arg . Afterwards i went and grabbed my other brand light up yoyo . It's just lights up when you toss it, and it has the full rainbow that changes colors and transistionz really giving a sic light show, soooo pretty. No dumb onoff button as it is motion activated by the inertia from the throw motion so it also wont just kill off batteries. It also had no big circuit board Could barely notice anything inside until it's light show started. Made me really question WHY the heck the one I'm reviewing even needed such a gaudy big board , ulitmatly all it did was light up solid with a switch, no sensors or effects rainbow of color or transistions , heck my keychain light does more and has a smaller less ugly board.I gave it 2 stars because it was a solid shell like this companies other yoyos, and because the bearing it had inside unexpectedly fit in other light up my yoyo!YOU see, upon further inspection I realized they looked like the same size approx and had same response system. So I took them apart so see more and sure enough the bearing assembly fit perfect in my other brand one.Yaaay now it (as in my OTHER yoyo) was perfect. .So in the end I kept it only because I was so happy to have my awesome light up yoyo be truly awesome and I needed the strings anyway.. probably could have bought a bearing and strings for less , but I didn't want to deal with the hassle.

Should work out of the box
Yoyo D5 Light Up Yoyo with LED Lights, Professional Responsive YoyoThe yoyo itself isn't too bad. With the whiz-bang gizmos inside, it's a bit heavy but that okay. It throws and spins quite well. So far, this could be a 5 star yoyo. Why isn't it?Where the rubber meets the pavement, so to speak, it would be ideal if the lights worked straight out of the box. They didn't. Yes, extra batteries are included but I wanted a fun yoyo, not a project, no matter how small. (Others reviews mention durability issues: I'm never going to blame the user as disassembly should not be required. That said, take extra care with the metal screws in plastic. Even with extra care, it's a precarious combination at best.)I'm a fan of the brand. This is a soft miss. Again, the yoyo works fine and, when lit, it redeems itself: It is very pretty to the eye and the yoyo spins well. Worth considering mindful of that significant caveat.

Works good, after initial working on it
I wanted a lighting up YoYo.It works as described. But it didn’t light-up initially… when out of the box!The installed batteries were dead. But the product came with extra batteries to be used for later stage, when the current batteries die. After a bit of hassle of finding out by myself, and changing the batteries, it worked. But the one side’s screw lost it’s grip, so the batteries cannot be changed next time.Working so far so good.
