A good Product
The variables :Car : Honda Civic EX 2007 4dr SedanPhone : iPhone 4SPrimary mode of use : Line-out port on the device + Car Aux input (connected using an audio jack cable)Pros/Neutral comments- Pairs very easily with the phone. As soon as I start the car, the device sends an audible beep through the car speakers within about 10-15 seconds to let me know that it has paired with the my iPhone.- Call quality : If you're using the line out port, call quality is great. I've called several people, some of whom I told that I was using a hands-free device, and they said that they could hear me just fine. Some, I didn't, and they never asked me to repeat what I said, so I assume they could hear me OK. I have to raise my voice a little, but its only very little, so I'm OK with that. I am very satisfied with this aspect of the device.- The line-out performance is very good.- The play, forward, rewind buttons work very well. One minor thing I noticed is that after the phone pairs (indicated by an audible beep), pressing the play button immediately would not play the songs. I would have to wait a few seconds (<5) before pressing the play button (but after the pairing beep), and then the songs played. Before I turn off the car, I push the play button again, so the song is paused (and my iPhone stops playing the music), then switch off the car. That way, the next time I get into the car, the same song continues when I press the play button.- Contrary to some other reviewers who have stated that they hear a high pitch whirring noise (proportional to the engine speed) when they try to charge their phones using the USB port on the device while the car engine is ON, I had no issues like that. Even when the music was loud enough, I did not hear any interference or whirring noise. It possible that the other reviewers either got a bad piece, or the problem is with their cars. (I also checked out the comments on a review by a Mr. Wessel, where some commenters mentioned things like installing noise filters in the car, but thankfully I didn't have to do all that)- In general, the default volume level (set at 20) works fine for me. I do have further volume control from the steering wheel, so I generally don't mess with the device volume.- The lights that light up to show the play/next song etc buttons and the phone buttons, are satisfactory. They would be even better if they made them a little dimmer, (I would say about 20% dimmer), but its OK, not a deal breaker, and I don't have a problem with it.- I haven't tried using Siri on it, (but thats mainly because I'm close to exceeding my data plan), but I pressed and held the 'make a call' button, and it said "Siri not available, please connect to the internet". So, I'm pretty sure that Siri will work OK, which is an added bonus.- I don't have a paid GPS app on my iPhone, but I tried an app called "Waze", and it worked great, just as if I had a nav system in my car (mainly because the directions were playing out of the speakers). I tried doing this while I was playing songs, and the songs would temporarily turn softer when the GPS lady spoke. Cool.Cons- The performance over FM was not good. I did not try searching different stations, but the fidelity of the sound in general was not that great (e.g the high frequencies were really horrible), and so I figured that this was a problem with the device's FM performance . Also, the volume level was audibly lower than if I used the line-out port. As much as I hate adding a cable so that I could use the line-out port, I must say that the performance is way better that way. In my car, the the cig lighter port and the aux-in port are right next to each other, and I was able to simply use a 1 ft audio jack cable to bridge that distance.- I would have liked the "stalk" a little sturdier. In my car, the cigarette lighter port is fairly close to the steering wheel, so I bump the device some times when putting in the keys or taking them out. On a couple of occasions, this caused the device to power off. I believe this is due to the connection at the charger port being a little loose, I don't think the device is faulty.- Every once in a while, the song skips a little. This is not a big deal, but I'll have to monitor this to see if it get worse. I'm not sure, but this may be a problem with the bluetooth chip, because I'm using the line out cable, and I dont suspect that the problem comes from the part of the 'circuit'.- I'm using a Mountek CD-slot mount to mount my iPhone ( Mountek CD Slot Mount MT5000-C, Universal Hands Free Car Mount for Cell Phones, Satellite Radios & GPS Devices ), and in my car, this blocks the clock on my dashboard. It would be cool if the display on the device would display the time, instead of the frequency all the time (as some reviewers have mentioned, I really dont need to know what frequency its been set to ALL the time).- Also, I would have liked if the default function of the dial would have been to adjust volume, not frequency. This also seems like an oft-mentioned quirk, and perhaps the manufacturer should address this (should be a simple software-category fix)Summary : All in all, I am very happy with the device, because it lets me play music seamlessly, receive and make calls without discomfort to the speaker or the listener, and be used with my iPhone as the GPS, as a "poor-man's NAV system". I would have liked to give it 4.5 stars, but you can't do that on Amazon, so I err on the lower side, because I don't know its durability. If this thing is still going strong a couple of years down the line, I'll upgrade this review to 5 stars.p.s. I've submitted a couple of photos. the good. The product I received was as described and ...
My experience with this product has been mostly positive. First, the good. The product I received was as described and (so far) seems to functions well. I plugged it in and was able to connect to each of our Android devices within seconds. The sound is sufficient, particularly when you dial in the volume relationship between the phone and the stereo. The display is easy enough to read and selecting a station with the knob is intuitive enough. A simple press of the knob toggles the function of the knob (and the display) to volume control. This is nice in that it also prevents you from accidentally changing the station. The look and feel of it is fine, even somewhat stylish, particularly when considering that there are more expensive devices out there that don't look as good as this one. Answering and placing calls is a no-brainer, provided that your accessory plug allows the device to be pointed toward the sound of your voice and you can easily reach the controls. The transition from music to calls is smooth and the music resumes upon the completion of the call. The Bluetooth range is sufficient, at least for my purposes. I was able to stand about ten feet away and the connection remained steady. Pausing, playing, and navigating songs (at least in sequential order) is both easy and intuitive. The list of the "not-so-good": The adjustable neck, while offering several possible positions, will not contort to the one position that would best suit my vehicle's layout. And while I don't hold that against the mfr (at least with regard to the star rating) I can't help but feel that many others would like to be able to position theirs similarly (for those that care, the position I'm speaking of is with the neck protruding downward from the plug, with the "head" still positioned vertically, as pictured). Still, the head being positioned sideways has a negligible impact on my use and enjoyment. In other words, I'll get over it ;)One big issue that I encountered with this product is the depth of the plug. I drive an old luxury vehicle that has a very shallow lighter socket. This means that it won't fully seat into the socket, making the entire device unsteady. I believe that later model vehicles, especially those with dedicated accessory plugs, won't face this issue. I came up with a very low tech workaround, jamming a plastic (Starbucks?) swizzle stick in with the plug to create a snug fit. To minimize any potential short or fire hazard I insert the plug as far as it will go and then back it out just enough so that I can place the flat side of the stick against the plug as I fully reinsert it. And although it still won't fully seat this workaround does at least prevent the unit from wiggling out (I plan on adding accessory plugs to the vehicle anyway, so I won't have to resort to this unsightly workaround for long). Since the vehicle is a '91 300C I haven't taken away any stars for this issue.A couple of things to keep in mind... the stereo needs a minimum amount of audio signal from your device or else your stereo will distort the audio. Try setting the volume on the device and the stereo at about half and tinker from there. I prefer to set it up so that the max volume that the knob can produce is the loudest that I might ever want it to be.I'm not certain how well it would tolerate being locked up in an airtight space with Southern California sun beating down on it so I stow the entire device away just to be safe. And while the "head" can easily be separated from the rest of the device, I hardly see the benefit since it's just about as easy to reinsert the entire thing. Perhaps those with limited storage space might find this feature useful, but the whole device fits nicely in my vehicles lockable console compartment. Besides, tucking it away also deters thieves that would otherwise think nothing of causing hundreds of dollars of damage to steal a $45 item. The power provided by the charger appears to be sufficient. Our devices are a Moto G, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note, Ipad II, and a Galaxy Edge 6.All in all I feel it was a good buy. I have all of the benefits of hands-free Bluetooth without any unsightly wires or the hassle or expense of a rewiring job. The device is compact enough so that it's not obtrusive but large enough to be used easily. I like that I can easily move it to use in any vehicle that lacks the hands-free capability (rental cars on vacation!!). It does what it's supposed to do, it's straightforward to set up and easy to use, the description and images are accurate and the quality appears to be acceptable. I would buy it again if I needed another one. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the cost. I feel that the price point should be about $30-$33. If price is not an issue then you should consider this a five star review.Oh, and by the way, since I have Amazon Prime I can download lots of music for offline listening. I make awesome driving playlists from over a million songs and I don't need to use any of my phone's mobile data plan! Amazon Prime rocks.

Works as After Market for Vehicle that doesn't have a working radio Aux port.
Our 2008 Scion xB had an upgrade radio however, the auxiliary port is inoperable or not accessible. We were able to tune an FM station and the pairing process worked well. The actual volume comes in a bit low but can be turned up by the radio volume knob. The FM stations selected had a bit of a hiss to them which is expected. I selected this based on a NYT product review stating this device performed well regarding FM station noise.

Really Found Its Worth Today...
I have had the FlexSmart X2 for about three months now. With an older car, I was without an AUX input and needed something to help my new phone reach its full potential. Without many reviews at the time, I gave this one a shot and have not yet been disappointed. My order arrived before expected and was packaged with not only every possible cable I might need (Accessory Power sent at least five cables since they did not know what type of phone I would be using) but also included was a cleaning cloth with Accessory Power's website and phone number (which came in quite handy earlier today).I found the cable I needed amongst the others that AP provided (I have kept the additional ones in case I need them for another phone in the future) and found set up to be a snap! The directions were very clear and easy to follow. The FlexSmart paired with my phone (HTC Incredible) and was up and running in no time. Now, as I like to see this in other reviews, I will list the pros and cons I have found so far:PROS:- The FlexSmart plugs directly into your auto outlet so you don't have to worry about charging it.- There is no need to worry about where you will charge your phone since there is a USB port (this is where the cables come in - you will only need one and, at about 6 inches, it is not an unsightly mess) where you can plug in your phone to charge it through the FlexSmart. BRILLIANT!!!- It is quite sturdy yet flexible in case you have to move it in any direction.- The main component easily disengages (once you get the hang of it) from the holder (which can stay in the car since it is a little tougher to get out of the outlet. I don't think I would want to remove the holder and replace it too much out of fear it might get damaged) so you don't have to worry about security, overheating, or freezing.- The buttons are easily reached and navigated without having to fumble around with your phone.- Music is paused and an audible tone is played when a call comes in. Music immediately resumes when call is sent to voicemail or ended.- You can either choose available stations found by the FlexSmart or you can find a station on your own. I like this feature since some times I find a better station on my own.-Volume selection on the FlexSmart really enables great volume to a point of almost too loud - if that is what you choose.- Easily paired with my phone.CONS:- Call quality is not the greatest. I can certainly hear people, and they can hear me, but not with great clarity. I can hear them well enough to have a conversation but some times I wonder if they can hear me just as well. The best way I can explain it is: Voices are not crisp and clear, there is some fuzz in the conversation. This is improved upon, but not resolved, with turning up the volume a bit.- As mentioned above, the FlexSmart doesn't always find the BEST available station. Sometimes dialing it in yourself works a little better.- Depending on location, weather and whatever else, there can be a bit of interference that is typically detected only between songs. In the three months I have had it, I have only experienced slight interference with music on two occasions. In addition, today I put Accessory Power's customer service to the test and they passed with flying colors! After recieving Verizon's 2.2 update, I found that the FlexSmart was not interacting with my music beyond just playing it. Forward, Reverse, and Pause had all become useless. As suggested by the AP Rep, it turned out to be a quirk with an App I was running. Now it is all fixed and working as it should. This little hiccup made me realize how much I have come to rely on this unit! With great features, ease of use, and excellent customer service, this is a great way to play your music in your car and make decent (but not stellar) calls should you find yourself without an AUX input.

An awesome TEMPORARY fix!!
As the title says, this device is an awesome temporary fix to your system! I've had mine for around a year-ish, and I've had no problems at all with the manufacturing (still working like new!). I'll try and give a thorough review and then a TL;DR near the bottom. And also, I am by no means a tech junkie, I'm just an ordinary person who loves music and hates commercials! The size: 5/5. The GOgroove is a good size. It's not too small OR too big, and the connecting bendy thing in the middle does bend, so it can take an array of shapes. For example, my cigarette lighter is in a very awkward place in my car, but bending the GOgroove a bit to the side made it fit very well. Also, with the size, the buttons are nice and large enough to be easily pressed without your hand slipping and pressing another. Which leads me to it's design! The design: 5/5. As you can see, the GOgroove is incredibly simple. There are 7 buttons in all: the phone call accept button, the end call button, previous song button, next song button, seek channel button, and the on/off button. That's it, and that's all you'll need! The interface is awesome, as I said before, it's designed in a really good way so that you can easily press buttons without hitting the wrong thing, and it's also safe to drive and push the buttons because you will develop your spatial memory pretty quick! And it's simple, back button goes to previous song, forward button goes to next song, and the top button pauses/plays. Also, whatever FM station you have the transmitter set to will display in red on the GOgroove, in case you forget to save your channel or something.Sound quality: 2/5. Now here's where it gets tricky, and a bit disappointing. You gotta realize that an FM transmitter is just that, an FM transmitter; if you have a shoddy connection then that's what you'll have: shoddy music. Unfortunately for me, I did have a shoddy connection, no matter which station I found. Granted, I did have plenty dead stations that worked good, but that's all it was, GOOD, not well or amazing. The FM transmitter took care of commercials (I hate them! So when they came on I'd just play my music to avoid commercials) but it doesn't do much for sound, in fact, there were many songs that I had to skip because the quality was just so terrible for songs with a lot of bass. Rather this is the same for everyone, I have no idea. But for my connection, at least, it was pretty bad--some songs played very well but ones with bass sounded so awful that I'd just skip them, dead station or not.Durability: 5/5. As stated above, I'd had this thing for nearly a year and it works like the day it arrived in the mail! No matter how cold it gets, or how hot it gets, the thing is still working. And it's very strong too; that skinny cord thing in the middle is stronger than you'd believe! It will definitely hold whatever wonky shape you put it in. Also, the Bluetooth connects automatically with whatever music thing you synched it with. I'd say 9/10 times it would connect as it should, but once in a while you will have to turn it on and off for it to connect. Not that big a deal though, it starts up fast, so in seconds it will be on and off again and will connect.Accessories: 5/5. I will say that this is a simple device and it actually doesn't come with many accouchements, but I believe there is a built in mic, and from I hear from my friends and family, works very well! They can hear my clearly and I can hear them over FM as well, although I had to turn up the volume very loud to hear their voice (for some reason, phone calls are much quieter than the music you're playing). Honestly, that's not much of a big deal though. Also! There is a USB port so you can charge your phone or ipod or what-have-yous.Overall score and last comments: Definitely a 5/5, even with the below-average sound quality, and I will get to that in just a minute. First off, yes, I loved this thing! It was extremely helpful and definitely worth the money. I kept mine on at all times (when you turn off the car the Gogroove will turn off as well, of course, but when you start up your car it will turn on automatically, and automatically sync with whatever device you've connected to in the past, and the connection happens pretty fast too!)And if you're curious about the 5/5 rating, despite the sound issues, it's because this is a great TEMPORARY fix to a crappy radio. I've gone through countless FM transmitter devices, and they've all been just a step better than the last. Granted, this is the best one I've ever had, hence the 5/5 stars, trust me, it's a great device. That said, I do suggest you plan on buying a new radio in the future (with Bluetooth or at least an AUX port so you never have to mess with the FM transmitters again!). The GOgroove is, again, a quick fix, so that you can charge your phone and listen to your music, but you won't get that sweet CD quality sound with this, you will get the bare minimum. The GOgroove has helped me survive a year by allowing me to avoid commercials, and I don't regret the purchase at all (in fact, I'm giving it to someone because I bought a new radio myself!) So yes, still consider getting the full shabam and use this as something temporary to carry you there.TL;DR Awesome device! Great look, it's small, and very easy to use! Sound quality depends on the stability of your own signal pickup, for me, it was pretty bad. But still a worthy buy, and I'll definitely recommend. It will carry you a long way! But in the end, buy a new radio, this is a quick fix, not a new radio!
