Great timesaver - well worth the money!
I've had to peel and core bushels of apples and Quince for dehydrating. This peeler made that process go so much faster, and easier. My slices were consistent thickness so drying was more uniform and actually took less time overall. The peeler is sturdy, comes in nice color options, seems to be made of quality materials, and eas easy to clean. The preset blade spacing was appropriate and after trying a few adjustments, I ended up putting it back to it's original placement and was content with it.Downside:Couldn't use the suction cup for stability. It just didn't seem to want to stick well to any of my surfaces. (My work areas aren't perfectly smooth) I think instead of having 1 big suction area, if it had several smaller suction areas throughtout the entire base that it would have worked better on my tile surfaces.Upside:I anticipated this suction challenge from previous peelers I've owned, which is why I purposely got this one that came with a clamp. I used the clamp to hold it in place and wasn't concerned about the suction cup performance. The clamp is the best way to go!However, it would be more helpful if the clamp had a little more depth to it. In order to use the clamp it had to be at the very edge of my table. If it had more depth I could have set the peeler more away from the edge and it would have been easier to place a catch plate under the end to catch the peels.Downside:It is a little difficult to get some of the fruit on. Definitely doesn't do a very uniform job on extremely large fruit or fruit that is soft and /or slightly deformed. It left skin on in some places, especially near each end or where it was deformed. But that wasn't really a major issue; I just took the parking knife and did the trimming before I made the final slice to cut thru the spiral. The perfectly uniform thickness and speed made that issue small peanuts. While I couldn't get the skin thickness as thin as I do when I use a paring knife, and I hate wasting anything, we have chickens, ducks, and goats so it was just an extra treat for them. And if I didn't have the critters, the peeling and cores would have go into making apple scrap vinegar. So either way it wasn't a big issue for me.Upside:Once again the speed of peeling and uniformity of the slices made the minor inconveniences inconsequential. I would definitely recommend this particular peeler because if it's sturdy construction, optional clap attachment, and ease of use!!Great peeler and you won't be disappointed.

Does NOT fit countertops that are 2.5" thick
This arrived yesterday and we were so excited to use it today. I ordered this specific model because it's supposed to fit countertops up at 2.5" thick. I have walnut countertops so the suction base does not hold and I knew I would need a clamp. Unfortunately, the clamp is too small for my 2.5" thick countertops. They failed to consider the space taken up by the Apple Master itself when you add the clamp. It will fit countertops approximately 1.75" thick, max. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it works great! We'll just have to find another clamp that will work for us.

Just like grandma's
An apple peeler is a must if making multiple apple pies. Frankly, I think it's worth it when making one pie. This machine is pretty much the same as mom and grandma had. So I bought it and it works the same as I remembered. But, my sister got the Starfrit 93013 Pro-Apple Peeler. All plastic with a horseshoe still vegetable peeler attached and came with a wedge/core chopper included. This newfangled thing works better. She bought a thinner wedge slicer than the one that came with it, but still likes the thicker one if the apples are bruised. But yah, this old fashioned apple peeler was exactly what I wanted, not knowing there is a better version now. So, it would be a 5 as it is what I ordered, but it's a 3 in performance compared to the newer technology (which probably won't last as well).

A valuable kitchen tool
This Norpro Apple Master allows one to easily skin fruits and veggies. It only takes a few tries to learn the method, and other than taking awhile to clean, is a valuable tool for the kitchen. The only real disadvantage is that the handle can break if the tool is dropped. It should be made a bit sturdier.

Easy to use
We've had another one exactly like this for many years and the piece that holds the apple broke. You can see it was cheap cast metal. Since everything else was good, we purchased this one as it looked identical and it is working well. We now have parts if something else should break on this one.

New design flaw
The blade on my original norpro broke. I loved this thing for making apple pies. So I spent $10 more than the made in china brands and got the norpro, made in America. Well the design changed and it doesn’t work properly. The first photo shows the new design on the left and the old design on the right. The small mechanics of it has changed. In the second photo I circled in red the design flaw. When the Apple hits the circle blade, the pressure makes the hook that runs along the spiral to become disengaged. It will start clicking, and the apple won’t slice properly. U have to put hand pressure on both ends of the norpro while you’re turning the handle or it slips off the spiral. The old design had a fixed component on the spiral so it wouldn’t come loose when the pressure of the Apple hits the circle blade which cores the Apple. My brother was going to buy one because he loved using my old one so much but now I will have to tell him to not buy this brand.

A FAVORITE kitchen gaget!
I gave this to my Sister for her birthday. It is much nicer than the one I have had for years. She loves it!! It has a suction base as well as a C-Clamp option. Also - - it looks like you can use the functions independently which is very cool. My old one toy have to peel core and slice - - (for example) I can't just peel a potato. I think I am going to have to get a new one for myself as well
