My dog won't leave it unattended!
The media could not be loaded. I have an 8 year old cocker spaniel who loves her toys and chews. I normally buy her the nylon type chews which last forever, she has never been an aggressive chewer but she does like to play around with things she knows she's allowed to chew and bite. I tend to chuck out the nylon chews when they start to get sharp after a few months.I had never heard of a yak bar before, so I did some research before ordering. I never like to give my dog anything which may cause her harm, such as a rawhide chew etc. Having researched what a Yak bar is I found out that it is made from Yak's milk and is flavoured with lime and salt. It's actually described as very hard cheese by some! It's full of protein and calcium for dogs teeth and bones. As my dog is getting on a bit I thought this may be beneficial for her, not to mention the fact it was likely to keep her entertained. Every time I get a box from Amazon my dog goes bonkers as she thinks it's treats or a new toy!The bar itself is rock solid! Even the hardiest of chewers I suspect would struggle to destroy this product quickly! My cocker spaniel danced round in circles when I got it out of the packaging... I placed it on the floor and she cautiously gave it a sniff before picking it up and running to her bed. She chewed it for a few seconds before hiding it! That evening she wouldn't leave it's side... it was quite funny to watch! She hasn't really chewed it much, but for some bizarre reason she is very attached to it.. even taking it to her bed later that evening to sleep with?!Overall I am pleased with the product, I don't know how long it will last but going by the hardness I suspect quite a while! My only fear re this product is may go sticky after she has had a proper chew on it.. my dog is allowed on our sofa and I had a nightmare before with a dental treat! But fingers crossed...Do I recommend this product? It's certainly pricey... but equally if it lasts and gives my dog enjoyment then it is worth it, and I may swap out the nylon bones for this type of product if it stands the full test of time and doesn't go sticky - so yes at this time I would say give it a go!!

GIVING IT PLENTY OF STICK....
I have bought these sort of chews before, but not this particular make, and as I know my dog likes Yak Milk chews, I was happy to try this particular one. They are made from Yaks milk, which is hardened and compressed before being smoked for 28 days to produce this (very) hard stick in a variety of sizes. This one is extra large, so suitable for my Bull Mastiff although she is still technically a puppy. It's truly amazing to watch a dog's behaviour when chewing on these sticks. It is great for cleaning their teeth and they work all around the mouth, including the very back teeth. The dog grips the stick between the front paws, or in my dog's case she brings it to me to hold (Lazy Dog!)Although they seem quite expensive they can last a long time and give hours of pleasure to your dog. They are especially useful to puppies when teething, and seem to partly alleviate the desire to chew anything and everything whether you want them to or not!My dog has lost all her puppy teeth now but still enjoys chewing, so the Yaks milk chew still has the purpose of distracting her from chewing my furniture, etc. !Although the chews do not last her as long these days, they are still valuable in that it keeps her happy and content... and these particular ones are good and large in size. They compare well to the other ones I have tried and they even have a not unpleasant smell. I can't comment on the taste however!

I Feel Safer With This Size With My Smaller Breed
Even though this is aimed at larger dogs, I feel much safer giving this size to my smaller dog who is a Shih Apso as she can hold it better in her paws and thus bite it better. I have bought yak chews before from this brand but always chose the smaller size and really had to watch her with it as she couldn't quite hold it properly and they would splinter too easily. With this size she has been licking it like a lolly pop but also chewing it more and when it does splinter the pieces are not small and sharp. So if you have a smaller breed, consider this size too though very small breeds like a chihuahua would not be able to eat as too heavy.

Long lasting chew
Our dogs love these chews and they’re really long lasting. Both our border collies are strong chewers and one is exceptionally strong and will go through most chews in minutes. These XL yak milk chews last even him for a few days at least, they are brilliant. The dogs never get an upset stomach after eating these chews and I love that they don’t splinter or warp at all when being chewed. It’s also great that when the bar has been chewed right down to a small stub which could be a choking hazard to your dog, you can put it in the microwave for 60 seconds to make it into a puffed up crunchy treat so they can enjoy every last bit of it.The bar I received in this pack weighed at the lower end of the range of weight shown on the packet for these bars but I still think they’re pretty good value. The double packs are even better value for money, especially if you have multiple dogs and they’re even cheaper than our local pet cash and carry.I’d definitely recommend these bars for dogs, especially if you have a dog who normally demolishes a supposedly long lasting chew in 10 minutes!

NOT XL !!!
I bought this for my Bernese mountain dog, and it is tiny, it is supposed to be XL, but I think it would last my dog about 30 mins.Complete waste of money if you have a large dog, I gave it away to a friend with a much smaller dog.Really, Really disappointing.
