Great tool with valuable options and an excelent Customer Service.
I purchased the D8W Scanner and I don't regret it.I have not been paid or asked to make a positive review in exchange for a free product. I am an Amazon buyer and more than a DIY mechanic that work on all of my family and friends cars and so, I had the opportunity to test this machine on a variety of vehicles from diferent manufactures and models as well as to compare this tool with others competing in the same market.I put together a few thought to help you get a detail view of what this product can do for you and so, make it easier for you to decide if it's right one for you or not.1- The topoly feature on this scanner (D8W) is fast and, can only be obtained from XTOOL on this price range. No other scanner in the market offers it for less than $900.2- The D8W comes with an 8" display again, something you can get from other stableshed brands of manufactures of Auto Scanners but at a higher cost.3- Don't think that you are buying a flimsy and cheap product because it is affordable, this scanner feels solid.and it weights more than any other unit I had the opportunity to test/try of this size, assuring the buyer they are buying something durable and well made.4- Across the market of wireless OBD scanners, many people complaint about miss/lost communication between the wireless OBD2 adaptor and the main unit but, till now, it hasn't happen to me, what leads me to believe your product does not have that issue and the connection between them is very stable.5- Compared to other scanners on this price range, the UI is simple enough for anyone to use and even known, sometimes you have to play/look around to get to what you are looking for, if does offer a fair amount of choices and information to get the job done.6- It comes with 3 years of free updates. At $199 a year, it's a hello of a bargain.7- The frequency of updates provided to the D8W, is like no other manufacturer in the market. Like I said before, I not only had a few makes and models of both scanners and automobiles on hand to test them but also the time and interest to do it, and none of them had updates every week or almost daily like XTOOL do. I concider it a good thing because, it.is proof they are.working constantly to improve and maintain their product up to date with the latest software.8- The battery, as long as you turn the unit off, like I do when you are done using it, will remain at the same level and will nor drain on its own.9- You don't have to add your email to the device in order to be able to use it like you do with other manufactures. This simple thing avoids the multiple emails to fill up the device-storage and also the annoying notifications and remaining of them.10- The D8W has a bilt in speaker. Yes, you may be surprised with this statement but, I had a well stablished brand scanner that didn't have one, making the feature of auto web search weak and sometimes unusable because is very hard to desifer what people are saying on a YouTube video if they are not speaking directly into the camera.Granted, not everything is perfect on this unit and, I m going to tell you about it too. If you are a professional mechanic that deals with scanners and work on the Fiat/Chrysler brand, you will now the TPMS issue is the number one complaint amount this family of automobiles. I believe they can sell this scanner for more money if they were to concider making a few minor adjustments/improvements to it.1- My screen is not too bright and hard to see outside during the day when exposed to direct sun light. I confess, I haven't remove the screen protector that came installed on top of the screen yet and, I am almost sure must of the screen glare will go away once I do it.2- The trouble codes have a brief description next to it but, if you want to get more info, you will be directed to the web using the tablet's web browser Google Chrome". You won't have to remember the codes numbers because, the machine will do an auto search on the subject to make it easier on you, the user.3- The TPMS feature still very basic, I beleive a grafic UI can be shown with the tire pressures, temperature, sensor ID and battery status of all 4,5 or 6 tires, on a single screen to make better sense and understanding of the system functionality and how the computer is receiving/reading that information.I hope I was able to give you an honest description of what you are getting if you decide to buy this product (D8W). Also, this company's commitment and efforts to make a much better product each day.Happy shopping.

Best All-Around Tool in my Garage
The XTOOL D8BT scanning tool is feature rich and more than just a scan tool. Its database of vehicles covers just about every modern car on the road today, and stays current with automatic updates if you choose that setting. You can read and reset fault codes, test components, and even customize many settings in late model cars. If you're a DIY'er, shade-tree mechanic, or even a master tech, this tool is invaluable. With other scan tools, reading fault codes is pretty standard, and cheaper options certainly exist that do a fine job. However, with this being an Android based tablet computer, the fault codes are not only displayed, but clicking the links brings you to online resources that explain the typical causes and repairs needed in plain language. This is invaluable, even if you decide to bring the car in for professional repairs, to avoid any surprise costs or unscrupulous mechanics.Additionally, the tool uses 2-way communication to access a variety of maintenance functions. On my BMW, replacing the battery requires registration with the ECU so that the system charges the battery appropriately. This tool performs that function, whereas in the past I needed a trip to the dealership, incurring a 1 hour labor charge. Likewise, when bleeding brake fluid, you can access the ABS system for a full flush. It's the same with cycling water pumps, radiator fans, interior electronics... Virtually any ECU controlled function in your car is accessible for diagnostics using this tool.Being a tablet design, the system is pretty rugged with a protective casing that is easy to hold securely. The back features a flip-out plastic stand to prop the device up on a dashboard or console. The bluetooth unit that I purchased comes with a transmitter that plugs into the OBD II port and wirelessly syncs to the device (powered thru the port - no batteries needed). The battery life on the tablet will run down after several straight hours of use, but a charger is provided, along with a handy protective plastic case. While the cost of this tool may make it seem like a luxury item, I can say that I've already recouped 75% of the investment in the first month of using it, just from avoiding dealerships and pro service. The tool's many features make it as versatile and indispensable as any quality set of wrenches. And, I know that the device will work on any car that I own in the future. I highly recommend this tool for anyone who routinely maintains their own vehicles.

Big Bang - Little Buck
I will start with this information: I have been an auto technician for 18 years and have used all the big name scanners and I currently run my own small diagnostic and repair shop on the side. I was looking for something small and affordable that would meet my diagnostic needs at least 90% of the time, and I think I found it.Scanning 4 different vehicles in the week that I have had the tool, I have been pleasantly surprised by its capabilities. PROS: 1. Many of the available functions are only found in higher end units. 2. The updates seem to come quickly and regularly, and they are included for 3 years! 3. The customer support is relatively quick and easy - responses received within 24h. 4. The battery life and overall performance of the product have thus far exceeded my expectations and the unit feels solid.CONS: 1. The live data stream lags a little and can make it difficult to see the full picture. 2. As others have mentioned, the screen doesnt get that bright and is very hard to see in direct sunlight. 3. On older cars (tested on 2000 lexus and chevy) the auto vin feature will just go on and on for many minutes and never give an error message or timeout (at least not within my patience limits). I had to just close the application, restart it, and choose manual selection.Overall, the Xtool D8W offers a lot of bang for the buck.
