Good product but overpriced
I broke my left arm and right wrist so both are in casts. I had terrible itching but did as my doctor said and not put anything down my cast until my kids showed me videos on YouTube of the horrible skin people have after the casts are removed. Ugh! I found this and yes it works great. Real simplistic product that reaches everything inside the casts. It come with two bendable arms and a container of small circular wipes. Yes they condition the skin while keeping it clean smelling fresh. Baby powder scent. I bought these before my casts had a chance to smell and clean them everyday. The wipes did get the rough skin off that had started to build up and conditions my skin. With that being said, it is pricey for what you get 30 pads that are about the size of a quarter. Not even the size of a stridex or makeup remover pad. They are barely damp and yes I understand that you don't want something sopping wet inside your cast but these little pads dried out in less than 2 mins or each use. I put a little water in the container to solve that. I use both sides at this price I'm not wasting anything. You can also purchase refills but then again you can buy some baby wipes add a drop or two of essential skin oils and get the same result. Don't get me wrong it's a good product but way over priced for what you actually get.

Sanity-saving product that works
I found this product after being in a leg cast for two weeks (right when things were starting to get itchy/annoying) and knew that another 3 weeks was going to drive me insane if I couldn't find some way to deal with the lack of hygiene caused by a cast and the subsequent itching and smell. This comes with 2 handles and 36 cleaning pads. I had also ordered a refill of the pads, but ended up not needing it before the cast came off. I never had an issue with a pad falling off the handle inside my cast and was never concerned that the handle was going to break.I used about 4 pads each time I cleaned, changing pads whenever it felt like one had dried up. And even without the cleansing pad on the handle, this thing makes a great scratcher thanks to the velcro. I didn't use it every day, just as I felt the need because of itching or if I'd gotten sweaty--probably averaged 3-4 days between uses. I was able to reach pretty much everything inside the cast, and when the cast came off, the skin on my leg looked normal other than a couple small patches right under the ankle bone on both sides that were more difficult to get to--those looked a little splotchy red.The person taking my cast off said I had one of the cleanest casts she'd seen and commented on the fact that I didn't have dead skin all over my leg. I never felt like my cast really got smelly--the cleansing pads left a baby-powder scent to help with that.

Not worth the money
While odor from a cast may be unpleasant, the real problem is the relentless itching. I bought this product hoping for itch relief. To be brief, it didn't work.First, let me describe what you receive. There is a 21-inch flexible plastic wand rolled up in the package and you will not be able to flatten it out completely. One end of the wand consists of a small circle of plastic with a piece of velcro attached to it. You also receive a container of 36 pre-moistened pads that look like mini-Stridex pads. The primary moistening agent is alcohol; the pads also contain glycerin, shea butter and a fairly strong fragrance. You press a pad on to the velcro, slide the wand into the cast and rub the skin.I admit it felt pretty good, mainly because I was finally able to reach that itch. After cleaning and moisturizing my skin, though, I figured the maddening itch would abate. It didn't. So I tried another "cleaning" about an hour later and that just created worries that I was putting too much moisture inside the cast. Although it may have been my imagination, my skin under the cast felt sticky. So I stopped using this product. The Sani-cast product description says, "Basically the build up of bacteria is causing a smelly cast and making your skin itchy under the cast. The only real way to make it better is to get in there and clean it." Based on my experience, cleaning does not alleviate itching. Which, of course, makes sense because the fabric filled with sweat and sloughed-off skin cells is still under there. No amount of skin cleansing will get rid of that.I bought this product because the itch was driving me crazy and I wanted to believe. What I've ended up with is a container of expensive facial cleaning pad and a scratching implement. The only reason I'm giving this product 2 stars is because it does make your cast smell better for a little while. If you really want something like this, you can find a product elsewhere online called "Under-Cast Cleansing Kit" that is being closed out by CVS. It appears to be the same item and it only costs a few bucks. Do not pay $20+ for Sani-Cast. And if anyone has knows of something that really does stop under-cast itching, I'd be grateful to know what it is.

LOVED but didnt last the entire time of cast
First off, this is an extremely simple design for something so pricey. It's literally a plastic stick with velcro at the end. That being said, it is wonderous. Our baby has had to be in a spica cast for 12 weeks now. We used the sani-cast every night as part of her bedtime routine. The cleaning pads smell great (almost like a baby powder).6 weeks into her cast, she had it taken off and a new one put on. Her doctors couldn't believe it wasn't smelly! Spica casts get very nasty usually. Hers smelled fresh!!My only complaint is that it didnt last the entire time of her 2nd cast. The velcro piece (held to the plastic wand by a glue of some sort) came off. It started getting loose after about 8 weeks of use. By week 10, it came off completely (unfortunately while cleaning her...oopsie lol!!). For the price we paid, I would expect it to last. If it wasn't for that, I wouldve given it 5 stars. The concept is brilliant.
