Had a paper lantern before that looked a lot cheaper before but this ellipsis shape for my dining table was much more elegant and sturdy. The pictures don’t do the beauty of this lamp justice, and I had no issue getting it installed. It just required a bit of finagling, as most paper lanterns do. It is a much more affordable option of the more expensive Noguchi style lamps

I am so happy I found these on Amazon. They’re a $1000+ Noguchi reproduction for the smallest fraction of the price. I have always wanted paper lanterns but was nervous they’d be too cumbersome with my low ceilings. The large (19”) are the perfect “ellipse” shape making them the perfect solution. I hung the lantern with a dimmable 15ft plug-in cord using metal wire brackets and swagged it to the outlet in the corner of my room. I used a dimmable “warm candlelight” LED Edison bulb. It gives the most gorgeous glow on low but is very bright on high so it’s very functional. 10/10.

I used this with a plain white pendant light which I shortened to the length I needed (replacing a ceiling light that was already wired in). I found I needed a little more light so I added a splitter that enables 4 bulbs. Using LED bulbs, the wattage is still fine and the bulbs give off almost no heat. I used the smaller ceiling fan sized bulbs to keep it more compact and light. The end result is a lovely fixture that gives a very nice filtered light, soft yet bright.

Super easy to assemble. It comes in a pair of two lanterns. It does not come with the cord or bulb, I ordered my cords from world market. It has a clean, natural, and chill vibe. It is paper so it will break if you don’t handle it properly. With my daylight bulb it feels like natural light even at night. I find that hanging lanterns work great for my small apartment since I don’t have table top ‘real estate’.

To fit a regular-sized light bulb through the top opening, you will have to release one side of the top wire brace, then insert your hanging bulb fixture, then fit the C-shaped wire portion of the brace around the cord, then reinsert the top brace. It's awkward and risks punching a hole through the delicate paper shade. If you're using an oval, chandelier-style bulb in your hanging cord fixture, you'll be fine. At the bottom, the glue around the seams creates an opaque area that looks cheap, but with the lamp on, it's not noticeable (see 2nd photo). One must be extra careful when expanding the lamp to insert the brace. If you "bow" the brace first, to make it shorter, it will fit, but you may feel like the shade is going to tear while you insert it. There should indeed be 2 entire lamps, i.e., 2 shades and 2 braces. Packed in an unnecessarily huge box, rectangular instead of a square box that would have sufficed just fine. Since I was surprised at how difficult it was to find a horizontally oval shade, I guess this is a decent price for the product, except that I didn't need 2 shades, so in effect I paid 32 bucks for 1 shade. The designer's eye wants what the designer's eye wants, sigh. Pay attention to the dimensions and disregard the website photo's scale; that's why I included 1 with a pen on it for scale. Apparently the website is into dollhouse furniture

Love this lantern/lamp shade so much!!! It’s gives Noguchi vibes but for a fraction of the cost. Plus it comes with two!!! So if you’re rough with the lantern during assembly (like some people in the reviews) you have an extra. Watch the video for how to assemble! My husband put it together in 2 minutes and had no issues, but I could see how it could be ripped or give you trouble if you try to wing it.

It would be an easy 5 stars if one of the shades didn't immediately break in a way that makes the whole thing worthless. I got the 2-pack of oval lanterns. Aesthetically, they're simply beautiful - exactly what I was looking for. One (1st picture) went up easily. On the other (following pictures), the little metal piece that hooks onto the pendant's wire broke immediately, so the shade can't be placed. I looked for a way to contact the seller and ask for a replacement piece but can't find any, and the only options that Amazon's AI customer service gives are a total replacement or refund that both force me to uninstall and return the current ones, including the one that's perfect. It is so wasteful in so many ways, but it might be my only choice at this point, unless the seller sees my review and just sends that one replacement piece.

Good value. Came in perfect condition and overall easy to assemble. It’s a little hard to get the light positioned perfectly in the middle. The metal that holds the bulb can be a bit finnicky.
