Would be perfect if they didn't leak... revised!
I have stripped my oh katy diapers using dawn and several hot water washes with no soap and am now having a much better experience! I also fold the insert to the smallest snap setting and put the doubled part in the front, this seems to be working much better for our little girl. I still double up with extra insert or hemp insert for outings, but am able to now really use them! With all the great quality features of these diapers, and the fact that they now work, I am giving them 4 stars. I am only removing one because I think the inserts could be better absorbing. The softest best fitting diaper we have tried! After much research, and trying many diapers, we went with oh katy as our main cloth diaper brand. We started using them around 6 months for reference. I bought 2 to start with and liked them most of all in terms of feel (so soft and comfy looking) and the fleece seems softer inside than some other pocket cloth diapers I looked at, and seemed to facilitate easier removal of solids as well. I also loved the fact that you could roll the diaper up if soiled, and snap shut, pocket opening in front- very smart. The snaps and fit of the diaper are great, allowing for a great fit for our daughter. The color selection and shiny fabrics are some of the cutest I have seen as well.However... after using our 2 oh katys about a week, I invested in 10 more of them, deciding they were a favorite. Of course after that everything started going wrong. These would leak every time, and especially wick moisture onto onesies between legs. I am changing clothing every single time I use the diaper. (I aim to change every 1.5 to 2 hrs) I have tried many things- stripping, soaking, using both inserts, and am still having major leakage. I contacted Oh Katy customer service and must say the response was fast and very nice, but none of the suggestions have helped.I think one of the problems is how the fleece inner is sewn around the legs, no matter how tight you adjust, you will still have moisture wick out. The "waterproof outer" will leak through if your insert even gets half wet.I am going to try and use these doubled up with hemp inserts and see if it helps. Though I was not a fan of the look and feel, I have found Bumgenius all in ones or flip diapers to be much more successful in containing pee, and can even be trusted for out of the house trips. (only use oh katy's in house because of clothing changes needed)

Thought I Liked Them But Changed My Mind
My Original review in July 2011: Im not new to cloth diapering, but last did it 20 years ago with my son. I did it back then because I couldn't afford disposables but just hated it. Many things have changed in the cloth diapering world and all for the better. We decided to give cloth a try this time to save money and to be responsible stewards. I read probably hundreds of reviews and borrowed and trialed many many diaper systems. So soft. My baby has not had any leaks. He has very skinny legs and many of the other cloth diapers gapped at the thigh, letting poo drool out. Oh Katy does not. I bought 6 Oh Katy diapers during the July 2011 sale and will be buying more. My husband uses them with ease & I even convinced a daycare to let me bring cloth diapers for my baby. Cant say enough good things about OhKaty.I am not sure if these diapers would be good for babes with chunky legs. My guy has skinny little chicken legs and the gussets are tight. I think they would really cut into thick legged babe.Updated Review: Now that I've had the Oh Katy's for a few months, they are going to the back of the closet and will hopefully be sold. I'm incredibly disappointed in the diaper. To a one, they all leak urine. The fabric at the leg holes wick the urine and my poor baby constantly has wet clothing at the legs and crotch. The urine seems to bounce off the inserts, too. I've followed the manufacturing washing and drying instructions to the letter. I use Charlie's Soap. I've stripped the diapers and inserts on more than one occasion. I have no idea why they leak so much. My baby boy wears an Oh Katy diaper and is soaked in less than an hour. The front opening pocket so many of the reviews rave about is quite awful for an older baby. When my baby was a newborn and exclusively breastfed, the front opening pocket was fine. I really didn't care one way or the other about the opening placement. Now that he is older and eats pureed and table foods, his bowel movements are much messier and more difficult to clean up. I don't know if I change diapers radically differently than other people do, but when there is a messy diaper, I use the inside front of the diaper to wipe the poo off the baby and then I use wipes to clean the skin. With a front opening pocket, I end up smearing poo all over the opening of the diaper and then I have to stick my hand in the opening covered with poo to pull out the completely ineffective. insert. It is disgusting.I use FuzziBunz and Swaddlebees/Blueberries pocket diapers without the leaking and wicking issues the Oh Katy diapers have had. I also don't think the diapers are very trim. They seem to be wadded up in the crotch. only good thing about Oh Katy diapers are the soft inside fabric and leg elastic. they definitely fit securely at the leg for a variety of leg sizes and have remained nice and soft despite many washings and strippings (no, I don't use any kind of softening agent). The newborn hip snaps are a great idea and I don't know why every single diaper maker does not include them. Oh Katy has a lovely variety of colors which have not faded. I have every single color except the pink. Unfortunately a great looking product does not make a great product. What a huge waste of money.Anyone want a pile of Oh Katy's? Less than 6 months old.
