Did not recongize the Source Disk after several attempts
Did not recognize the Source/Master disk after several attempts.We tried doing several hard re-boots, resets, reconfigurations, and cleaned the contacts...but to no avail.We were attempting to Clone two exact hard drives of the same size and same exact brand of 1 Tb SATA.We have several years of Tech. experience working with other Cloning Hardware Devices, and we feel we tried everything on our end before giving up and having to return the Device for a refund credit.We were also very disappointed with the cabling attachments, which are too fragile, vulnerable, and very prone to a very short life span of operation... if were able to ever get the device to work at all.

The good news and the bad news. This really is a great unit to copy drives with. Just crummy caddys are shipped with it.
I bought this item to copy both IDE and Sata drives. As delivered it could copy IDE to Sata or Sata to Sata but not IDE to IDE. The drive caddys it came with broke and did not work with in days of delivery. I was able to get some adapters that would turn both of the internal Sata connections into an IDE connection with the IDE and power cable coming out of the box for connection to the unit. Now I'm able to copy IDE to IDE or Sata to Sata or Sata to IDE and even Sata to IDE. This duplicator is really great once you get past the horrible caddys that arrive with it. Throw them out and get two Sata to IDE converter and use that instead. The copies are usually perfect clones. The drive you copy too must be at least as large as the original. In spite of the crummy caddys I really like this unit.

So far this seems pretty good, with a couple of caveats.Pros:- It's fast and reasonable compact. The menus are simple and reasonably intuitive.- Standalone unit that seem ruggedly built overall.Cons:- The documentation comes on CD, and does a very poor job of describing the physical device. Basically it just goes through the menus and describes what is already obvious.- The adapter trays fit poorly, and the top slot requires both the handle to be flipped down, and that the key is inserted and turned. If you lose the key, the top slot won't work. I like the safety- The top slot has erase disabled by default. I monkeyed around quite a bit before I discovered this, though the info is in the manual, it should be made more evident. The reasoning behind disabling it is sound: the idea is to protect your master disk.That's fine, but it should either also disable the option to erase in the menu, or should issue a prompt if an erase is attempted while the function is disabled.

Works great
Works great and did just what I needed. Cloned an 15 year old IDE drive to a new IDE drive. Now it will continue to work onceMfg. made changes to meet my situation.
