Comparing the BabyDan to the DreamBaby for pet usage
I board dogs in my home. This is fourth baby/pet gate I have purchased and it's my favorite thus far. I also own Regalo and Dreambaby extra tall gates. When you have medium and large dogs, gates that are 24-36" tall aren't adequate. This gate is 41.5 inches tall, the tallest I have seen. In shopping for a new gate I was also looking for simple construction and lines that are easy to clean, the right size for my 30" door, white color and a wide walk through opening. The Regalo opening is only 16" wide. The Dreambaby is 20" and this one is 21.25" wide. I'd still like to find a gate with a wider opening that fits into a 30" doorframe. Many people have a door attached to the door frame where they are installing the baby gate so the mounting of the gate needs to clear that. But for an opening with no door attached someday someone will make a gate with a wider opening and I'll buy it.The latching mechanism is hard to operate compared to the Dreambaby but if you need a sturdy, baby proof or clever dog proof latch it's fine. I like that this gate stays open when pushed back to the full open position. On the Dreambaby I had to put a bungee cord on it to keep it open. Once it's pushed past about 45 degree angle it stays open. Less than that and it springs closed. The Dreambaby was harder to keep clean and the paint scratched fairly easily when chewed on. Multiple scratches, grime and rust can be seen in the 4th picture on the Dreambaby gate. In fairness, it is 4 years old. I hope the BabyDan paint will be more durable. It's a good smooth paint and the welds are smooth yet more substantial looking. The adjusting nuts are metal nuts, not plastic screw on devices. If you want substance and something that's easy to keep clean this is a better choice. If you don't like using tools or need to take the gate out of the doorway from time to time maybe the Dreambaby would be a better choice. This comes with a 17mm wrench to tighten the nuts but get yours out of the toolbox, installation will go faster. This is a pressure mounted gate and doesn't appear to need mounting cups. You can buy them separately here on Amazon (or use your old Dreambaby gate ones.)The Dreambaby extra tall is a good combination of features and value. But for my particular use and aesthetics, I prefer the BabyDan.

Very secure gate
I have been hunting for a gate that can withstand my very anxious Pittie. She has severe separation anxiety and needs to be kept away from our other dog when we aren’t home. After tearing apart her crate (it looked as if we had housed King Kong) and countless baby gates later, I am confident that we’ve found a final solution to our problems!Unlike a majority of the gates on the market, this has what the others don’t...a secure release handle that is difficult to destroy. The gate locks at both the bottom and top, and is pressure mounted. You simply hit the button that is located on one side of the gate not both, pull up the handle, lift the gate and bam! The metal is very heavy duty, she has not been able to successfully bend the bars and we’ve had this gate for about 3 weeks now. I do spray the handle with a little no chew spray before I leave, and this regiment seems to be working the best. I was very worried about the safety of my dog, she was injuring herself consistently trying to escape after I would leave her alone. This gate is also very tall, my girl is medium sized at about 55lbs and she looks tiny behind the gate in the pictures! I do wish it had a better swinging mobility, but it does allow you to open the gate in both directions. For extra security I also drilled screws into my doorway to ensure this thing isn’t going anywhere. If you are in the market for a heavy duty gate at a great price, this product is for you. I definitely would purchase again should I need another.

Operation is not straight forward
Everything about this gate is great except for the hinge and bottom stop. In order to open the gate, it MUST be lifted up. If someone new (occasional dog sitter or trainer) tries to open the gate WITHOUT lifting, they will break the hinge. The bottom stop also requires lifting to operate. (Cheap design!!!) I will have to find a way to modify the hinge to allow non-lift operation, or accept that the hinge will only last for a short time. It is a shame, as it is the only gate I have found that is both tall and has a large opening. Also, the non-written instructions are terrible. Smiley faces and pictures don't cut it in my opinion.I gave this a 3 rating because of the height and gate opening width. Without that, it would be a "1-"

i thought the size of this was overkill,
as i have a very short bichon, but it will come in handy for grandchild, although the circus cat scales it easily without a running start - it's sturdy and has kept the snoop dog from bothering me in the kitchen when i'm cooking

21.5 inch opening.
The best part about this gate is the 21.5 inch opening for one to walk through. Other gates have a 16 inch opening. I just got it today but it does seem well made. And it kept my dog in his area.

Breaks easily!
No good breaks easily, my dog thought this was a joke no good

Not for a determined dog
Easy enough to assemble and fit in the door. My isolation anxious dog was able to push it down after an hour. Think maybe if it could screw into the door might be better, or could work for less anxious pets

Poor seller.
This looked like a quality gate but it arrived without the pressure knobs. There also were no instructions- had I had all of the parts. I was very disappointed with this seller, not necessarily the product.
