Chroma Atelier Interactive Acryl 20ml 12-Tube

I have always loved oil paints and never considered painting with acrylic. It dries too fast, its colors are not as vibrant and I just love the buttery feeling when using oil paint. However, a free sample of the Interactive paints was given out at the Florida Watercolor Society recently and I just loved the way the paint moves plus it's brilliant colors. With this paint you can "unlock" it and it works just like oil. There are mediums that decrease drying but with the unlocking medium you can reactive the paint you already have put on canvas and go right back to work as if you never stopped. I love this paint; its versatility, its brilliant color and its wonderful feel.

I am excited to get this positive review out right after receiving and trying out this acrylic set. Comparing it to another professional grade heavy body acrylic brand, it is very similar in texture (creaminess) and rich pigment level. However the purpose of having this interactive acrylic is to be able to use it like oil paint and this does not disappoint. Color blends nicely and with longer drying time. Some of the colors even have very nice sheen finish. I have used all types and brands of paints, these are very nice ones to use. Love all the colors and will certainly buy more.

These paints are just excellent! Could say that when on sale - 5 star bargain. I haven't tried the unlocking formula. So I've been using them with other brands. The pigment loads are excellent. It's a blending renderers paint. It lends itself to easier blending - in the ball park of the best I've used to this point (Golden Open, and Grumbacher Academy - yes Grumbacher. The pigments are ground so fine and the binder facillitates even pigment spread).Even without using it's special formula properties - this paint is excellent!

The paint was provided loose in a little plastic "bag" with the product information wrapped around them. It was not in the advertised container and what this set comes in. There were no seals on any of the tubes of paint, which I'm not positive there should have been since it was the first time I'd bought this brand paint. I can't tell if the tubes are full or not. I have to assume that the product was returned, not in it's original packaging and I was sold the returned product, which may or may not be all there. I have used the paint a little and it is not as "open" as advertised. It is hot, but a skin formed quickly and the paint dried at about the same rate as other acrylics. Not impressed all the way around.

I see a lot of reviews that are rather negative about these paints, but I have to disagree. I’ve only had one tube separate in all of my purchases and I own most of the colors. These are the only paints I am using right now, and I just love them. I create miniature artwork - baseball card size and smaller, and folks love them. NOT your typical plasticky acrylics.

This product works as advertised and has some obvious advantages to most other acrylics. The option of being able to re-wet is great for oil style painting - the best of both worlds. My only caveat is that the pigment load is student grade, not artists grade. Double or triple the pigment load and I'll give it five stars. This is a great idea that would be my regular paint if not for the pigment problem.

I love these paints because they were easy to use and their colors were sooo rich. This is the same brand that I prefer to use again.
