Q: How does it do with beet seeds which can be of varying size and shape? What spacing does the plate put the beet seed at?

I planted multiple rows of beats with no apparent issues. I mixed several varieties together. The seed plates have various size openings, but the book explained the planter is 19 inches long, so divide the holes into 19 to get actual spacing for each plate. I suggest testing the seed size for various plates to see how well they fit. You can enlarge the holes slightly if needed, or they sell a blank plate you can custom drill.

Q: Does this planter work well planting corn? How far apart does it plant the corn seed? Is it easy to adjust planting depth? Earthway comparison?

I used it to plant sweet corn last spring and using the proper plate, it planted the seeds about 10 inches-12 inches apart. Adjusting the depth is easy but my garden has areas of loam and clay and the seeder has some difficulty keeping a two inch depth when pushing through the clay, though this would probably be true of any seeder. Adjusting depth is easy. The planter is extremely well made.

Q: Can this plant sunflower seed?

It comes with different plates that have holes for different sizes of seeds, so I think it would. But, unless you are planning on planting hundreds of seeds, it might not be worth the trouble.

Yes, it comes with a number of plates to accommodate everything from sweet corn and beans down to radish and carrot seeds. They are easy to change as well.
