You can miss this...
I LOVE Martin.. ok? But this stand-up is not it. 20mins in and I haven't laughed once. He is out of touch... seems watered down... not as risky as he used to be. You can tell the audience was laughing to be polite. I gave it 3 stars because... Martin.

Wow, this is awful
I don't know who is rating this four and five stars but oh my. This is garbage. I haven't smiled a single time. He's just not funny. He also seems wildly out of touch and disconnected from the world today. He just has nothing to say. The whole thing seems as though he thought all he had to do was show up.He is unprepared, has no theme or perspective, nothing interesting to say and is acting like a fool. I was embarrassed for him. Don't waste your time. Absolute trash.

Trash
Im a big fan of Martin. I love n watch all his shows. This is by far the worse he has done in his entire career! Martin retire from stand up pls! It’s not your thing anymore. You even used old stand up comedy jokes. Come on man!

I guess he's racist now?
Not funny, just talks racist trash and speaks incoherently, he used to be one of my favorite comics. He should just stick with acting.

10 out of 10
Martin was absolutely right when he said black people get philosophical when they smoke shweed. For instance, i am high right now and i paused the show to finish this thought...but why? why did i have to finish this thought at this very moment instead of just waiting for the end? because.....i had it a minute ago. it takes forever ti..tu..to tyope..type a sentence without deleting and starting over...and now its gone..this seems dumb now..goodbyw..goodbye

Martin! You so... MILD (Welcome back!).
In his prime, Martin Lawrence was the funniest comic in the game. He took mainstream appeal and ran with it. He was the definition of hardcore laughter in the 1990's. With his comedy classic You So Crazy, he broke every wall down as no topic was off limits. In short, he killed it with one microphone and we loved it!Fast forward 23 years later, we are presented with Doin' Time. We as fans are thrilled that Martin is back! He showed great enthusiasm about gracing the stage once again. While his performance did carry heart, it fell short of the comedy spectacular that was You So Crazy. He had the right idea for this show as he said in radio interviews that he would "pulling materials from the archives" and as consumers we love what is proven. But he didn't take full advantage of this opportunity. For example, he brought out his classic Sheneneh and Jerome takes- but only for a split second. The audience LOVED this! Can you imagine if he took this a step further and actually built an angle around these impressions? This is a concept he mastered in You So Crazy!I enjoyed that the topics discussed were current such as Barack, Cosby and sex. Unfortunately, a nostalgic return trumped any shock value here as Martin came off more as the funny uncle at the BBQ rather than the comedic microphone threat we can easily recall him to be.And there were just so many opportunities of laughter missed. For example, in discussing Cosby, Martin lasted all but a minute with the topic of "Americas Dad" here. The material on this guy at the moment is endless! Though he keeps it moving, this only gets points for quantity. At the conclusion, credits roll and we get clips of fans and celebrity friends praising Martin but this comes off as more of a farewell rather than a welcome back.To say I didn't enjoy Doin' Time would be incorrect; on the contrary, I found it to be an overall pleasant experience because some Martin is better than no Martin at all.If I came off as such a critic, it's because I remember how Martin's humor relentlessly captivated us all once upon a time. And this is not to say Doin' Time won't make you laugh because it will. But more than anything, it will make you smile because Martin has returned.

Ol' Marty Mar broached a few good topics, but far from his best standup routines
Ol' Marty Mar broached a few good topics, but far from his best standup routines. Perhaps this signals he should return to sitcoms for his fan base..actually the best part was seeing him smile again.

Solid!
I've loved Martin since I was a kid. His show and standup career were staples of my childhood. That said, I would say that this is a solid standup special. Definitely not his best, but there were moments when I cracked up and enjoyed his work. At the end of the day, this man is a legend. We have to give him his flowers while he's still here and doing his thing. Don't go into this expecting to watch the greatest standup special you've ever seen in your life. Just go in ready to enjoy another solid performance from the legendary Martin Lawrence!
