Keeps fingers from being burned
Silicone Hot Handle Holder is a nice substitute to bulky pot holders, should last nearly as long as my cast iron pots and pans.

Don't throw out your quilted mitts.
I don't like the long handle holders because they don't easily slip onto my pan handles and leave a gap where the handle connects to the pot that could burn a finger if you're not careful. They would be better for skinnier and shorter handles. I have quilted ones that easily slip onto & cover the whole handle which I prefer to use with my pans.I love the set for short side handles like on a Dutch oven or soup pot, because they easily slip onto the handles and allow a tighter more secure hold Vs bulky pot holders on small handles. But they're too loose for my glass casserole dishes. I suppose they could work if you apply pressure to squeeze & hold them toward the dish being careful not to let your fingers touch the hot dish, but it seems like a precarious finger hold to me. I prefer the traditional bulky pot holders to grab the casserole dish using only a thumb on the handle for balance. It really depends on your cookware and handling preferences.

Not as heat-resistant as expected
I think my expectations were too high. I expected to be able to leave the handle sleeve on and it wouldn’t get too hot to pick up my cast iron pan. I’ll admit that it does resist the heat, and you can move your pan around to redistribute the heat (gas stove), but don’t dare try to pick up your pan (to hold it at an angle) to sauce your meat, etc. (even if you haven’t left the sleeve on). You will get burned, or worse, drop the pan, and risk a possible kitchen fire. Long story short – do not pick up a cast iron pan while using these. Heat resistant, yes, but not as good as a good-old-fashioned oven mitt.

They work but are loose
Certainly these work at blocking heat. But they are very loose on the handle of my pan. Not sure if they are better than just using a pot holder.
