Pentair FNS Plus 48 Sq. Ft. DE Pool Filter (EC-180008)

This review is more on the customer service side of my purchase. The filter cover arrived damaged and I contacted customer service who responded the same evening to my surprise. They apologized for the inconvience and to process a replacement they asked that I submit photos and condition of the box. I submitted them with my reply and the next business day they responded with approval of the replacement. They sent me a parts list in the email and submitted the part I needed. It arrived super fast and they made sure everything was in working order which it now was. This is perfect customer service and exemplifies the meaning of it. Regarding the Pentair filter, this was a direct replacement for my original one so that it made it easy to replace with the fittings I had. My original Pentair filter lasted 15 seasons with no issue so I know it is durable, and is a quality product. There were no leaks with the new top and I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

Works great! My old filter broke right about the same time as a major storm caused a lot of runoff to get in my pool. That caused algae and the pool to look like a swamp. Only took a few days of this filter running to clean it all up.

Easy set up, works great

A complete disaster ... After professional installation of the pump and putting DE powder in the system, couple of days later i noticed a murky water and there was DE powder at the bottom of the hot tub and the pool ... a complete mess... I called the technician back and he opened up the pump lid and it turns out there is no DE in the pump, the manifold grid cap was broken from the factory and one of the grids fell out of place and the entire DE powder recirculated and ended up back in the pool ... now the bottom of the pool is full of DE powder ... so far I have sent the cleaner robot twice and every time the ronot basket is filled with DE but the problem is most of DE become floated in the water and robot doesn't collect them and water becomes very murky. It's a complete mess and I have already spent 300 dollars on technicians and with a murky pool ... this has been a horrible experience... a 0 star review will be too much. Now either I have to return the whole product which is a lot of hassle, also means I have to get another pump an spend more on technicians again ... or buy a manifold and fix this and spend the cost out of pocket.

Excellent replacement for my pool older filter. A not expensive

This unit was an exact replacement for my old Pentair 48sf filter. The old filter was 21 years old and had developed a leak near the drain plug. The new unit packaging was a bit flimsy but the unit was undamaged. I did replace both backwash O-rings and lubed them with Magic Lube and wrapped the threaded plumbing connections with Teflon tape before connecting the filter. Very happy with my purchase.

Great OEM equipment.

I got a notice that the product was undeliverable a few hours later it shows up. My only complaint is that the dome of the filter housing has a pin-hole leak. It shoots a tiny stream of water into the air. I don't know what can be done about it. I certainly don't want to remove and return it after all the work I went to installing it. If I could get a replacement dome that would be fine, but I think Amazon is not equipped to do something like that. I will work with Pentair under the warranty to see if I can get a replacement. I love Pentair products. I use them almost exclusively around the pool because of their quality. Needless to say I was disappointed that this unit has defect. I am confident Pentair will make good on the warranty. Update: upon further inspection the dome has a small crack in the dome. I MUST replace the dome with a new one because a crack will only get larger with time. Update: I am going to return the item to Amazon. Pentair seems to be dragging their feet on the warranty repair and my pool needs a new filter. Amazon, however, has not issued a return authorization.
