Bio-Young: Get Younger at a Cellular and Hormonal Level

Extremely useful, mostly for women
I love the info in this book and have been trying many of the suggestions with some success so far. My skin is looking awesome again, and the "age-related" acne I've started getting in my late 40s is gone now--something I couldn't do without the very expensive use of Rx retinoid cream. I have always had great skin but it was hard to keep at bay. Now I am off the cream, yay!Further, certain areas that were "less firm" than they used to be are improving, and the appearance of cellulite on my legs is much better. Mostly, I found the estrogenic herbs and oils the most impacful. I was skeptical about getting truly noticeable results, but it's only been a few weeks and I can see her suggestions work. Also, spraying Horse Chestnut extract, followed by estrogenic oils after that dries on my legs for spider veins and the beginning of varicose veins has reduced sensitivity to touch in those areas--I will have to see if they become less visible with time. Incidentally, I do think my breasts and face seem a little fuller, too. I wouldn't say I've increased a cup size, but there's definitely a little "spillage" over a push up bra now. Oh, and dill EO is not a very attractive scent for applying there, lol!I found the info on what causes hair to change color very interesting. I have almost no gray for my age, and now I understand perhaps why and especially how I could keep it that way.Criticisms--Directly-linked citations within the text itself to supporting research would be nice. A list of more alternatives that do the same thing were and their relative strengths, such as how dill might compare with fennel EO in the strength and type of estrogenic compounds or including a table listing the relative squaline content of different oils, etc. would be helpful. This would aid in making economical choices if you're on a budget, as there is overlap for many items. Further, extracts and powders come in various concentrations, which leaves you guessing what would be the most effective concentration. Many you could make on your own if you're ambitious and want to save $. This also goes for a discussion comparing the same herb in powder vs. tincture vs. EO form, or whether one is more or less effective. Often she suggests a particular form and you don't know if it matters whether you use it in another. A couple end-of-chapter suggestions don't have much discussion in the preceding text, so you're left wondering more about them. I think Shatavari and Elemi were a couple. Shatavari is one I would have like to know if the extract is an equivalent alternative to the powder. The book seems mostly geared to women; I would like to see info for men as well. So, if you're a man, you won't find a lot specifically for you, unless you're looking to help out the ladies in your life. These criticisms are what would help take this book to a higher level as a work of writing. That said, I very much appreciate the practical, observable effects that can be found from the information itself. I give 5 stars for useful content, 3 for the quality of the writing, so a 4 overall, due to extremely useful and information gathering in a single book you just don't find everywhere. It's definitely worth reading.

What a great book! I was looking for information on how ...
What a great book! I was looking for information on how to be a better version of myself - not so tired and grumpy all the time...and also looking to improve myself physically as I roll into middle age. I want to remain active and vital as best I can and in doing research, I stumbled upon this book. I found all the information to be scientifically sound and well researched and the practical tips on how to apply all the information to your daily life were spot on. I have begun using some of the essential oils she recommends in a coconut oil base and have definitely noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin. It is smoother and softer and looks more youthful and not so dry. I have also begun taking ashwaganda and ginseng - and I don't know if it's a placebo effect or truly working but whatever it is, I have noticed a positive improvement in my mood and energy. There is a lot of information here so I think it's important for people to try what they feel they need and/or have room for in their life. Two thumbs up from me, though!

Probably worth it
I am a huge fan of natural products and have found many to work on health issues so I *think* some of her suggestions will work. However, I know some of them do not work. I will try the ones I have not yet already tried and post a video review.

Advice you won't find anywhere else
I am an obsessive reader and collector of health and beauty books. Even in my crowded library and Kindle, this book stands. Practical, scientific and specific advice you won't find elsewhere.

I so wanted to like this book
I take care of my health, eat right and exercise. But, let's face it, time waits for no one. I got this book hoping for "natural" anti-aging solutions (e.g. based on whole foods, natural oils, etc.) While there is some of this, there is far too much reliance on megadoses expensive exotic minimally studied supplements. Also, as a survivor of estrogen receptor positive breast cancer, I'm not willing to take her word for it that the megadoses of unregulated supplements are "safe." She does say to pick any of several alternatives, so I will take her advice to eat garlic, rosemary, olive oil and tomato paste (because I already do.) I also have taken her advice to use olive oil on my skin. (Regular olive oil like you use for cooking. Not expensive olive squalene that she presents as an alternative.) I will pass on rinsing my hair with onion water. I would rather look old than smell like onions.

So glad we have a place to get the reall information
I have been going in a circle for years, not knowing what to do about menopause and it's many symptoms. I am so glad I saw the review from another lady who requested that we read this book. I am so glad we have someone who can naturally take us there. I have tried so many things from this book so far and it has been to much success. Thank you

Excellent reference book
This book is awesome. Lots of good info and easy remedies to try. Although the author focuses on beauty, these remedies will also improve your overall health at the same time. Most of the remedies have affordable and easy to access ingredients that are also backed by research. Also, this book isn't biased towards products that the author is selling, as I don't think she's selling anything at all. I think I will be referring to this book for years to come.
