Fast and easy 2005 Xterra Shift linkage bushing replacement!
A fast and easy fix when the shifter on my 2005 Xterra decided to go floppy and not change the gears. Watch the video on YouTube and it will show you how to put this on quickly and painlessly. My only issue was that While maneuvering the top part of the shifter out of he way, I accidentally ripped the shifter light receptacle out and lost the bulb. It is the plug in that is attached to two green wires and plugs into the underside of the shifter box on the rear drivers side of the shifter. No big deal - it used a 74 bulb. And after trusting it on a bit, it locked into place with no problem. The bushing was an easy install and is working great. Just make sure you pull the linkage out of the condole area or put something, or you could drop the bushing and it would dissapear into the deep recesses of your transmission shifter console.Easy to install if you watch the YouTube video on it.

Perfect fit! 2006 Nissan Titan
The media could not be loaded. The original bushing finally cracked and I wasn’t able to move the truck because the steering link came off. I didn’t use the tool nor the grease that same with it. I did use a 10 inch Milwaukee straight jaw pliers to put it on. I made sure it was straight and I pressed down slowly with the pliers and it fit perfectly. Looks like I’ll never replace that part again as the original one just broke. My trucks a 2006 Nissan Titan with 180k. Good quality.

Perfect fit for 2005 xterra
Son came in the house and said he put it in reverse and the engine stopped running. He couldn’t shift it back in park. Googled the issue and this bushing displayed. You don’t need to remove the entire console as one YouTube video suggested although it would give you more room to work. I was able to install without removing the entire console. I removed the cup holder, then the molded piece around the shifter. Then unsnap the gear shift piece(plastic part with P,R,N etc….be careful so you don’t rip apart the wire for the light. Then I removed the metal clip holding the wire, removed the wire from the plastic piece so I could remove the wire from the center of the gear shifter. Installed the bushing, then put the wire back in the gear shifter and pressed the bushing into the gear shift. You will know when it all the way in because it sort of snaps/snugs in place when your pushing it. And install everything you removed. Several YouTube videos exist. I hope it lasts as long as the original, then I won’t have to do it again….lol

Works perfectly ... but price is exploitation.
Ok, so suddenly your vehicle will not shift out of reverse. You panic. How much is this going to cost? Hundreds? Thousands? A new transmission? You do some research and find out that there is a possibility that the linkage cable has disconnected. Boy I hope that is the problem. Youtube video shows you how to check it. BINGO! Now to find the part. Dealer only sells whole cable when it is only a small (very small) grommet that is needed. Search reveals this is the only one that fits your vehicle. 30 bucks, whew! Part fits. Easy to replace. Five minutes and problem solved! Now, why did I only give 4 stars?? Because the part, which is a perfect fit replacement, couldn't cost the seller more then .20 cents to manufacture. The $30.00 charge is exploitation and, although I am a supporter of capitalism and the free enterprise system a mark up of 15000% is a bit excessive. The provided 'tool' serves no purpose whatsoever that I can see.The part, again, is PERFECT and who wouldn't pay $30 to fix their vehicle...but 15000%? Really?

2006 Xterra - Save yourself time, money, and frustration, buy this bushing.
Suddenly my transmission (2006 Xterra) would not come out of park. The truck ran just fine and I could move the shifter but the truck simply sat in park. I removed the trim from around the shifter and found the original transmission shift cable bushing had disintegrated. I went to the auto parts store and bought one of the two "universal bushings" they had in stock. I brought it home and destroyed it while trying to install it. Defeated, I went back to the auto parts store and purchased the other "universal bushing" they had in stock. Predictably, I also destroyed this one trying to install it and it did not work. So much for universal bushings...After spending $30 and untold frustration on bushings that did not work, I purchased this one. Once received, I was able to install this part and get all the trim reinstalled in less time than it would have taken me to drive back to the auto parts store to buy another "universal bushing". Do yourself a favor, buy this part.

Works great.
Item was exactly what was need to fix my '07 Nissan Xterra. I read the reviews especially those pertaining to installation, they were very helpful. Basically I arrived home, went to put my truck in park and it kept rolling. Even tho I was able to move the gear shifter the truck stayed in Neutral. I received the part a day early having ordered it on Thanksgiving Day and it arrived on Saturday, 15 minutes later the truck was fixed. The part is small so I understand everyone frustration with the cost, but it's like anything being sold - the cost of the materials to make it and the provided tool and lube, cost of packaging, marketing, patents, shipping materials, employees time, and overhead. It's the only way to get the part without buying the whole gear shift cable from dealership and spending a whole lot more.
