Review: Stargate SG-1(Gold Gate Version) - Bluray Review - I had been thinking about picking this set up for along time but reviews around to much DNR and surround sound issuess had put me off. However my wife got me these as a surprise for my birthday, I must say its been a pleasant surprise. The video quality for an upscaled set is great, yes there is some DNR but I'm watching on a 65inch LG OLED and this is best the shows looked compared with my dvd sets. The audio issues must have been fixed as I am on season 2 and I get full surround sound and it doesn't appear to be a bad sound convertion as voices only come from my front speaker and when there is gun fire or energy weapon fire I hear it from behind me in different directions. Sound is great from what I have heard so far. If you are a fan of this show don't let the negative reviews put you off. Review: Brilliant - The total series is just fantastic as it brings such imagination to you with losing track on our world . It’s super ….just a small criticism box for discs is not ideal as getting each one out without fingers all over them is hard

Comoact wallets and not standard blu ray cases and does not include Ark of Truth/Continuum
Upgraded to blu ray as some of my standard DVDs were skipping so needed to get completed series 1 to 10. So far discs are alright from what I've checked so far, also you have to get Ark of Truth and Continuum separately as they are not included with the rest of the seasons that completed SG1. Box arrived damaged and torn at the top, be aware this will come from the US so must have a multi regional player, also the front cover has a character that doesn't appear til the end of season 5 into season 6 so very sloppy for not researching the major key character there from the start and gets shifted onto the back.

2 sets with unreadable discs unacceptable
On my 2nd set now since the first had 2 faulty disc. Returned the 1st one and ordered another and yet again some discs are unreadable and have these melted specs on them, did anyone even check these discs work or just take it on faith that they do? I can only conclude there isn't any 1 set with all discs working correctly, so no point in returning it again for a 3rd time. If you're hoping that a box set has at bare minimum readable discs, look else where these guy's are completely inept.

Bear with it, it doesnt get better.
Watch until season 8. Saeson 9 onwards is crap writing, they sack their military consultant and decide to sacrifice proper activites for posing with dual p90s. Constantly trying irs absolute hardest to try and be half as entertaining and failing. Hackey writing , discussions about what thewriters think are "nice words" and how the lispy braindead, freaks hate hunting. Exposition, treachery, and every hack cliche crowbarred into each episode. Zero substance. Juat like a michael bay movie. Only less visually pleasing.

Excellent
Always loved the series so moved to dvd from video collection finally. Good quality picture, not noticed any sound synching problems so far that were mentioned in other reviews.

Region free and great visual upgrade
I can confirm this is region free release and the up scaled resolution is the best the show has ever looked

Best release of SG-1 so far, but still not fully remastered.
Seasons 1-7 are not in HD, they're just upscaled to 1080p but still look better than their original DVD release. Season 8 is finally released in HD for the first time in this release along with Season 9 & 10 as they where before. All 10 seasons had their film grain removed which look much nicer and cleaner than their previous releases. Although not a true remaster this is the best version of SG-1 released so far. I especially liked that all the discs where packed in 2 large sleeve booklets, not a single one of them got scratched during shipping and they're much easier to handle than other Bluray releases.

Excellent Picture Quality! As Advertised!
I have recently watched other shows on Dvd from the same time period, 90s and 00s, and they were both fair video quality. This is such a pleasure to watch. What a treat to watch a show that isn't available on blu ray yet at near 720 quality on a Dvd. The case is really nice and compact, especially considering it is a 10 season show. It seems to be an official release though I am puzzled how much cheaper this release is compared to the other releases that also aren't enhanced picture quality. The 5.1 surround sound functions perfectly and the subtitles function as well. I have only watched the first disc and second disc and have read others reviews that noted problems with some discs and I will update this if I encounter any problems. Edit (9-24) Well I have had no problems with episodes not playing or freezing. I still don't know how they are able to fit 6 episodes on each DVD disc and offer what I view as 720 quality. I watched the Babylon 5 series, the complete series Dvd's, purchased here on Amazon and this Stargate DVD set offers a supremely better picture quality than that. I also did note that episodes at the beginning of series are slightly out of order; it is only, to my memory, 2 episodes out of order, and only off by about 2 time slots. I only caught this because the same happened with the Farscape Blu-ray box-set so I looked for it when I started watching, checking against epguide. The episodes were only slightly out of order and really was not a big deal and it seems not an uncommon occurrence with these complete series box-sets.

Very Enjoyable
The blu-ray picture is gorgeous. The series itself holds up very well--good stories, good acting, overall I'm glad I upgraded from my old DVD set.

Fantastic! Loving rewatching each episode again
Grew up with this show and was fascinated by the potential in each episode. Now I get to share it again with my kids. The Blu-ray Disc’s are error free. Yes the first season’s film quality is not top notch but a modern player on a modern TV doesn’t show the defects for me. This was exactly what I hoped for.
