Humorous Book...Seller not so great.
My son found humor in the book. He liked the illustrations and giggled as the story progressed.

had to pry out of 2 yo's hands after repeated readings
I ordered this along with three other books. This one is clearly his favorite of the bunch, though Aliens Love Underpants is a close second. However my son absolutely LOVES this book. He seems to identify with the character in that "Dougless" is trying to figure something out for himself. None of the pages have too much dialog on them, but they do have more than two words giving at least a simple plot. The colors in the illustrations are fantastic. Some illustrations in books now a days are done such that I worry a child might get confused what animal the character is supposed to be. Not with this book, no "impressionism" here. We have a story routine at bed time. 1 or 2 fun books, a recordable story book from the Grandparents, then finally Courderoy. However, the other night we had to read Hugless Dougless several times in a row and when I made him move on to the recordable book he threw a fit forcing me to litterally pry the book out of his hands. I think it's safe to say he LOVES Dougless!

Hugless Douglas - has a big heart
Hugless Douglas is a great story no matter whatever the age of your child is. Even more important it shows theimportance of hugs - adults and children. It will bring a smile to your face and a tug on your heart. Buy it, read itand love it.

Douglas finally finds his hug!
And of course it's from the best "person" ever! We checked this book out from the library but I'm now going to purchase our own copy. What an adorable book! After waking up from his hibernation, Douglas needs a hug. After hugging a variety of objects and animals and not quite finding the hug he was looking for, a rabbit leads him to where he can find the hug he wants. This book also has very cute and funny illustrations. Highly recommend this book!

Who doesn't want more hugs?
This is a very sweet story about a bear looking for hugs in all the wrong places. My son, a 4 year old who has high standards (you know, for a 4 year old) on books, was laughing riotously reading it. At the end there's a page all about fun different sorts of hugs, not to be missed!

great book
We receive this book today and my daughter and I just love it. It is very sweet and funny, and has beautiful illustrations too. My daughter ask me to read it few times in one day and that does not happen with all of her books. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

heartwarming story
This is one of those read again and again books and one I enjoy reading to our grandchildren again and again. We have fallen in love with Douglas. The illustrations are delightful as well.

Lovely story, beautifully illustrated
Charming set of stories, to which my grandchildren (ages 2-5) related very well. Appropriate morality and beautifully illustrated. Will buy the whole series eventually.

David Melling at his best
This is one of my favourite books! It is a lovely simple story and the illustration is, as always, gorgeous. My children's favourite part is in the back of the book where there are 20 or so illustrations of the characters in the book hugging in a variety of fun ways. They particularly like the descriptions that accompany the hugs, 'Daisy chain hug', 'unrequited hug' and I shan't spoil any of the others .... Just get yourself a copy of the book!

Cute illustrations nice story line
Cute book for a toddler, nicely done with lovely illustrations. Our baby girl loves the story about a baby bear looking for someone to hug, eventually ending up in mums arms :)

A great little story!
My four year old absolutely loves this and can read it using the pictures as prompts. It is a simple little story, but it is good and amuses little ones. My son particularly likes the poor little owl which ends up all ruffled up after one of Douglas' over enthusiastic hugs! The board book is a good idea as his other well-loved paperbacks are now looking very dog-eared.

Love Douglas!
My son had been asking for this book for a while (after seeing it in advertised inside another of his Douglas books), and I finally ordered it for his birthday. I admit I was disappointed to see how small the book and bear were when they arrived (book approx 17x17cm, bear about 15cm tall) but my son was happy enough with both, and is always a favourite story for bedtime.
