Dawson Professional Grade Glock Front Sight Installation Tool

I picked one of these tools up as the other two I owned stopped being able to remove blue-loctited sights. I had two slides that were extremely difficult to remove and had begun rounding the nut. I ordered this one knowing Dawson as a well revered sight maker and trusted that it would be at worst better than the two that were not working. As expected the two sights I had issues with came out the first try. Another positive aspect of this version vs the knurled and plastic ones, is there are flat sides to the sight tool which made it easier to attach a small vice grip to get some rotational leverage on it. My other sight tools were round or screwdriver-plastic-shaped and it was more difficult to make that happen. Skip the round ones and grab this one.

If you own a Glock, chances are you are going to be replacing your sights at some point. This tool is a must and at a great price but be aware that it does not have a magnet inside. That makes it a bit of a challenge because I have to hold this upright and lower the slide on it so the screw does not fall off and spread Loctite all over the slide. Still, a five star item as I used it multiple times to change front sights and it always worked great.Keep in mind that you need a bit of Loctite on the screw and you can just hand tight it. If you are going to use Loctite as you should, do not use a method to tighten further than you can by hand, all you will accomplish is give yourself a headache when you want to remove the sight in the future.

After reading reviews on all the glock front sight tools available I decided to go with this one since its steel (not plastic and aluminum). I used it to remove a trijicon HD sight off my g19 to install on my g26. Good thing I went with this tool because whoever installed it went way over hand tight which required the use of a socket wrench for extra leverage which may have broken a plastic tool. It is machined with reliefs in the corners of the hex for a perfect slip fit interface onto the screw head with little to no play and is precise enough that the screw head cannot be engaged at an angle.(no need for magnetized head). I am very happy with this purchase and the quality of Dawson precision products.

This is my 3rd Glock front sight tool. The other 2 brands I bought failed miserably. They would not hold the tiny screw in the tool and I would drop them on the floor and lose the. They would also not fit the screw head properly. The Dawson Professional sight tool fixed both of those problems. It have a magnet in the end just deep enough to hold the screw in place and the tool fits the screws perfectly. No more dropping and losing screws and you can properly torque the screw so the it secures the front sight tightly on the slide.Would definitely recommend to anyone.

As the armorer for our department, I have the opportunity to use assembly/disassembly tools quite often. This tool is very well constructed and the depth of the socket is perfect for the Glock front sight set screw. I also appreciate that the handle is cut to accommodate a box wrench, for that extra 1/8 turn that you need to properly secure the set screw. This tool appears to be made for heavy use, but for the price, it would be a great purchase if you only planned on using it once or twice. Also, it arrived a day ahead of schedule.

After quickly stripping and ruining another front sight tool made of aluminum, I ordered this one. Of course, this delayed my project and was frustrating. Save yourself the money and headache and get the right tool to begin with. Sure, the aluminum ones might be fine for installing a new front sight screw. But, if you ever want to remove one, you'll be glad to have the advantage of this all steel model that'll stand up to the torque required to remove one that's been securely loctited and torqued down. Good piece!

Used this to remove the factory front sight , install a front night sight on a Glock 26. It made making the removal and installation easy but a magnetic tip would have been nice. I had to use a very small pair of needle nose pliers to set up the screw in the hole then used the tool to spin screw in place but this was a only a minor inconvenience. Even without a magnetic tip, i would still recommend this tool as it is well made and got the job done.

Just used the Dawson front sight tool for the first time. Appears to be high quality, well made. Easy to use - worked perfectly. Withheld one star since I can't comment on durability. Changed sights on a Glock 34 so I can confirm that it is slim enough to work very well on the long slide Glocks.
