Flimsy plastic hooks bend and warp.
I love these in theory, but I'm finding that the little plastic hooks that hold the file folders in place bend and warp easily, which means I have to use more of them to contain my files. So...they expand...but you can't use the full expanded volume or they won't hang. I doubt they'll last the whole year. Bummer.

I wasn't very satisfied with these
I wasn't very satisfied with these. I purchased them because, obviously, I needed folders that could hold more, however they are really awkward. First the black plastic hooks that extend out don't stay extended out. So almost every time you add or remove something from the folder one or more of the hooks retracts. Then you have to fiddle with them to get them back out and almost certainly while you doing that another one will retract. Can get a little frustrating.. Then, because the folders are plastic you're basically crushing them if you put too much in them and they get too heavy. They almost seem like they are going to break, either at the top from the hooks or bust out the bottom. Wouldn't reccommend these if you have anything that might get too heavy.

Just Okay
Sturdy exanding files with hang tabs that retract. Unfortunately, my package has one file with a broken hang tab, but its not enough of an issue to return them since I got them on discount on Prime Day. These function ok, but they are plastic and the accordian bottoms pop out of alignment. Its fixable but irritating since cardboard/paper accordion files do not do that. I do like the bright colors, theyre more aesthetically pleasing than standard brown or bankers green. They work for my purpose, but I would not purchase again.

Life is short. Choose a quality product and be done with it.
The plastic is bulky, does not accordion neatly as it expands and compresses, rather the pleats buckle outwards making the file hard to lift into and out of the drawer. The plastic hooks that slide out from the folders to attach to the drawer edges do not stay put. The whole unwieldy set of files is something you might offer as a white elephant gift at a Christmas office party for naive home owners thinking to organize their warranty receipts. Or something. Save your energy for plucking your nostril hair. It will bring you more pleasure than using these files.

Poor quality plastic breaks almost immediately, and stupid design renders these useless
I could have gone with your standard hanging file folders, but I wanted to better organize things, and I figured expanding hanging folders would be better for all my filing. And while I was at it, why not buy the brightly colored poly ones? So I spent a bit more than I wanted to, only to discover that these folders have some really stupid design flaws.First, the plastic is incredibly flimsy but rigid, which means it breaks sooooooo easily. Just my initial filing caused them to crack and break, so there's no way they'll hold up over time. But even more annoying is the way they designed the tops. The hanging part slides in and out for some reason, which is fine, but there's a sealed bit inside that area on the ends that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to insert the tabs. These are 5th cut tabs that you should be able to line up end to end in the folders -- 5 across. But the end slots are blocked by that sealed area inside, meaning the tabs can't possibly go in the way they should. Did Smead not even test out their own design? Seriously, the first tab I tried to insert wouldn't go in because of this blockage, and every other folder in 4 different packs was exactly the same way. I had to insert a pocket knife in each end of each folder to break that seal, just so I could insert the tabs. This may be the dumbest design I've ever had to deal with.

OK, but not very durable or user friendly
I wish I had read the reviews before buying these. They aren't terrible, but definitely not what I expected. They are plastic, which I somehow missed that fact when I ordered them. I thought they were paper. I bought them to organize my curriculum for my classroom so an entire unit will fit in each file. They fit, but I'm almost certain the plastic will crack because just feeling the plastic makes it almost crack. Plus the annoying little tabs that hold the file in the filing cabinet are movable, and they keep retracting into itself. Super annoying. Especially since this is something I will need to have access to every day in my classroom. These might be better for files you aren't going to touch a lot. They will work for now, but week definitely be looking for a different solution within the next few months. (I used up my classroom budget for now, so this will have to do until they break)

Perfect Way to Brighten Up Those Thicker Files!
Love these folders. They expand more than I thought they would, making our thicker files easier to manage! The plastic material allows for no tearing or future waring down. The colors brighten up our filing system as well!

Not recommended
Not recommended.Pros-Good price for pack of 5-Variety of colorsConsThese are plastic, not paper files! Which should make them durable but instead....-They are easier to get bent out of shape-Sharp edges from corners-The hangers, while extendable, tend to retract often and results files falling into cabinet.-Collapses on itself when not completely filled-The label inserts lean forward rather than stay upright; therefore make it hard to distinguish file names (minor but a nuisance)

Good expandable letter files.
Really nice expandable files. I have just put them in my filing cabinet today. Works well.
