Q: Any hammockers tried this for a DIY "trekking treez" set up?

Oh, one other "do not use for..." caveat. Do NOT USE ANY trekking poles to put on bridges with gaps between the wood! The tips will go down between the wood crossmembers, then snap. C'mon, if you are crossing a swinging bridge, or just a stationary 2x6" type crossmember bridge, you should NOT use hiking poles while crossing.

Not if you use it as intended. It's not a pry bar. Tall enough? Well that depends on you. Ski poles come in different lengths according to your height. Trekking Poles are are adjustable, typically to around 53 inches. I have three different brands of these. Hiking staffs are typically longer in length. I have two, this one and a very good wooden one and they are both 60 inches. There are people who make hiking staffs in any length you want on the internet. I like the Kelty very much, it's very light and works like I expected. At your height I would buy a 2x2 pice of lumber cut 18 inches off of it and walk around with it in the yard to see what length you are comfortable with. I'm 5'10" and use mine at the top and down 6 inches from the top, depending on the terrain I'm on. I would guess you might be more comfortable with a staff a little longer.

Q: What is the extended length of the kelty stick?

The Kelty Strider Hiking Staff is about 60"lg when extended. That's 5'-0" to us now civilians. I'm aging a little these days and I use my daily. I have a cane that I've used off and on thru the years, this is much better. its lighter, will fold up into a small package. love it, my balance is sometimes a little off and this helps me stay steady on my feet when needed. Love it and wouldn't change it for a hundred of the most expensive walking canes.

Q: Could I theoretically assemble a longer walking stick from two of these?

I would say "No". First, I'm 5'8" and it's almost as tall as I am. That would make one very long / tall hiking staff, but each section is tapered. I don't think purchasing two and trying to make one extra long one would work........but....where's there's a will, there's a way.
