No . It specifically states on the bottom of the container to hand wash.

Q: Can food contents be heated in the microwave in the cup part of the thermos?

I wouldn't. I don't think it's sturdy enough for that

Q: Do i have to put hot water before each use? Besides soup what other foods type can i use for my son school lunch to keep atleast warm?

Any food you warm up will keep warm or hot. You don’t need to put the hot water in it to warm up the thermos. I skip this step and the food keeps warm as long as it is hot when placed in the jar.

Q: Does water getting trapped in the valve that creates a stench ?

Yes, I'm facing this issue. It has happened twice now. A well cleaned and dried item when opened for use, has a little liquid seeping and stinking. I'd like to find out where that's happening and how to clean it fully.
