Great for the busy and forgetful !!!
This item is just what I needed. This item would be good for anyone taking a lot of medications or vitamins. It would be good for a younger person with, say, a transplant because the medications can be loaded into the 'tubes' (they are really more square, but you get my meaning) and the tubes can be taken with you. It would also be good for someone with memory issues (e.g. an older person living at home) or someone with vision issues because someone else can load up the whole box for the month and then the user can just take the tube out for the day and take the meds appropriately. The tubes can then be put back in the box with the red side up, or for someone with vision issues, maybe have a container by this one that they can just toss the empty tubes in until someone comes in to load the monthly med box again. Another option available for this med box is a large clock with timer. This would be good for someone who is at home a lot, but I did not opt for that since I leave home for work. Just in case anyone needs to know exactly how big the tubes are for carrying with them in a purse or something, the individual tubes measure at their max points 1 1/4 inch x 5 7/8 inch x 7/8 inch deep. Just in case anyone needs to know exactly how big the box filled measures for placement in a counter or on a shelf, at its max points 8 inches tall x 9 1/2 inches wide x 6 inches deep (Without Timer)

Wonderful and Convenient but Difficult for Arthritic Hands
I love the convenience of having an entire month of medications doled out and ready. I used to use two single-week trays at a time but radidly became tired of repeating the refill process every two weeks. Once a month is preferable albeit more work for each refill cycle. Monthly organization also tends to match up well with most pharmacy refill systems.I have taken around 15 prescriptions a day along with various supplements for many years now. Having to deal with counting out pills only once a month is a welcome relief. This product has me spoiled until a better idea comes along. How about something that simply takes the bottles from you, reads the labels and handles the distribution without further interaction? Yeah, I know - I'm dreaming. However, products I've seen on the market seem headed that way.I gave only 4 stars instead of five for several reasons: - I have arthritis and it's difficult at times to remove and replace the daily containers in the stand due to spacing. It hurts to try to get my fingers in between the daily containers and pull one out. Some of the small doors (on each chamber) stick badly and opening those also can be painful. - Quality is inconsistent. Some of the small doors (lids) are exceedingly difficult to open - even on a good day - risking a slip that would throw pills all over the place. Some, on the other hand, open far too easily and pop open from the slightest disturbance, such as removing the daily container from the stand. This is dangerous because the containers are stored on their sides in the stand with the hinges up (when in the "green" position). If the door pops open as you withdraw the container, you'll spill pills and wonder is you found them all. Fortunately, *most* of the chambers open and close properly. If these problems were to be resolved, this would be a near-perfect product. As it stands, it still beats everything else I've tried. All manufacturers of this type of product should learn to take into account that those needing this much medication are likely to be older and most probably have some degree of joint pain. At least, enough of us do to be taken into account. Better grips, better spacing and more attention to the force required to open and close a chamber would make a real difference and I'd pay more for it.

A great system for keeping meds organized
I take care of my brother who has more than his fair share of medical issues in his life including a couple of brain tumors and strokes that have left his with seizures. He cannot miss medications. Previously we used weekly organizers for him but no matter how hard I tried to make sure he always took his medication he always got it messed up and missed doses. Using this date system instead of a day method that almost eliminated the problem. All I have to do is make sure he took his meds for each day of the month. Trust me it has helped so much. In addition, I also take several medications for my health problems. Setting up my meds for the whole months makes insuring I don't forget a med and I'm taking them every day. It's great. For anyone that takes a lot of meds this is perfect and I would highly recommend it. I imagine for those that take a lot of vitamins this will also be a benefit - everything is right there for you to take instead of having to open several bottles to take them all.

Finally - a solution to taking daily vitamins
Always been inconsistent in taking my vitamins - but no more! This design works.Instead of opening and closing a gaggle of bottles when I remember to take my vitamins several times a day, which I'm reluctant to do - I now do it once a month. It took me 25 minutes to set up the months supply, which is about 20 capsules per day, and now it takes seconds to open and swallow what I need - no fuss, no reluctance, just an easy way to take my vitamins. The unit sits on my counter where it serves as a reminder, taking up a small space given the function it serves. Its easy to stay on track both for the day, and the allotment for the time of day.I've already recommended this to family members, who were interested to witness such an easy way to organize a month's vitamins in such a compact unit.Highly recommended to those who have several pills to take throughout the day.

This pill organizer was perfect for helping my elderly parents stay on track for taking their medications. It is a little large but the size is necessary for people with multiple daily medications and multiple times when they have to take them. There is no lock so this wouldn't be good for a person at-risk for over dose; but it's great for a person who just needs help keeping the medications straight or has trouble getting in and out of multiple pill containers. By putting all the pills in there for the month it helps us see which medications are running low and need re-ordered, too. I got one for each of my parents and then used a black Sharpie to put their initials on each box and on the base - just in case they got them mixed up. Great system.
