This was a gift for my brother-in-law that has just opened up his own MOT business. He has found it so helpful, especially as the nights are drawing in and he is having to work in the dark. The brightness of the light has really helped him to complete all his jobs before leaving for the day. He did struggle to install it as the instructions are not great but overall this was a very small problem in comparison to how effective it is for lighting up his garage.

The design of this bay light is quite good, in fact, it's almost a shame to hang it up high because you won't be able to appreciate the novelty 'Flying Saucer' shape. However, the light unit itself does need to be fitted high to be most effective, which is mainly due to the 120 degree beam angle, and fitting it on a low ceiling will more than likely mean that additional lighting will be required. We ordered the 100W version (200W also available) to try in our garage, and at £25.89 when ordered, it seems a little expensive for such a relatively simple light (with a novelty shape that nobody will see).This is a very bright lamp, we found 100W to be more than adequate, but we have two additional light units fitted which have adjustable LED panels, and those are more practical for a garage with an average height roof. Overall, the lamp is a little overpriced, but reasonably good quality, and it's probably best suited for a warehouse or factory (as the promotional pictures show).

I installed this in the ceiling of a shed where we didn't have any lights. It was easy to wire up but you do need to supply a junction box and additional wiring as the included cable is very short.It hangs from its chain easily and feels well made. It's pretty industrial in design so it's really only suitable for certain applications and the light it gives it (very) bright cool white. It's great for seeing what you're doing as it's quite similar to daylight in colour temperature. The spread of light it gives it good too - nice and wide to give good coverage over the whole shed, but all the light coming from the bottom of it means there's a noticeable ring around the walls of the shed where it goes from light to dark as all the light goes down. If it was installed in a higher ceiling that wouldn't be such an issue and it doesn't bother me anyway.
