Dive In! — A Topsy-Turvy-Say-It-Out-Loud Underwater Adventure Hardcover – March 1, 2017

"Dive In!" is a great book for kids ages 4-7 by children's band, Recess Monkey. My kids and I are long time fans of their music, so it was good fun to give this new book a try! My youngest daughter, 4 yrs old, enjoyed it the most, but my 9 yr old was happy to listen and play along too. I say "play" because the book has the reader and listeners get involved by saying some of the phrases like being underwater ("put your finger between your lips and move it up and down"), tickling characters, tilting the book and turning it upside down, and more... My 4 yr old has a short attention span for books sometimes (with all the screen distractions in her life), so when she wanted to read this book again immediately after finishing it, I knew we had a winner. I can't usually get her very interested in books, but the next day, she saw "Dive In!" and wanted to read it again. So I highly recommend it, especially if you have active kids who like silly things!

My kids received a copy of this earlier in the week, having ordered it from the USA to be shipped to our home in Romania. The interactive nature of the story - instructions from the key characters, etc. - were initially met with some confusion by my 2 and 4 year old, since it is very different to a conventional story book. However, having finished reading the story first time they immediately asked to have it read to them again and began to join in with the activities. Even my youngest, who is still developing his spoken language, had a go at the bubble talking, and particularly liked turning the book. Reading with both of them at the same time does mean that the pages have already started to become a bit crumpled from the actions, but the paper is a decent weight and the binding is good so I suspect the book will be able to withstand a battering. I hope it can anyway - Dive In is going to be a regular part of our story rotation!

What a fun, colorful and playful book! I have two kids, 1.5 and 5 years old. Both boys were in giggles during our nightly story time read-aloud. We love the band Recess Monkey (great kids music!) so we were excited to try their first book. I think we have read the book every night for the last two weeks.My older son loved the various fonts as the number counting was very visual and he enjoyed helping "read" along. Really, a very playful underwater tail. Perfect for any kid 7'ish and under! Pair it with a bath toy and this would make a super birthday party gift!

4 year old review: Mom, I seriously love this book. Parent review: I seriously love this book. It's very hands on/interactive so every time we read it together, I get a different reaction from my daughter. As a parent, this book is one that I won't get sick of reading over and over. And that says a lot. The writing and illustrations are both fabulous! If you haven't heard of Recess Monkey look them up! They have fantastic music both kids and parents can jam out to, and now, they're authors! I look forward to more adventure books and music. A fan for life. Yay!

Our family loves this book!!! The whole experience, from receiving a new book written by my daughters' favorite Kindie band, Recess Monkey, in the mail to reading it 5 times in a row! And again the next day! It kept all 3 of my daughters (ages 2,4,6) engaged until the very last page.They loved interacting with the book and characters, and taking turns doing the actions. It's a fun read, and a change of pace from your typical picture book. The illustrations are cool too. Buy this book, you won't regret it!

As an avid Recess Money fan, our family loved this book! My daughter is now 8, and we've been listening and going to their concerts for years here in Seattle. At 8, she's aging out of these books, but she loved it nonetheless. She particularly loved taking the lead and reading it with our 3 year old neighbor. The two of them laughing together was priceless. These guys never disappoint. Perfect illustrations to a funny, adventurous book, make reading it over and over a pleasure. Keep up the good work guys!

Fun, funny & interactive! My almost 9 year old son gave it 5 stars even tho he said it's a bit young for him! It didn't stop him from laughing out loud & doing the blubbering pronunciations with his finger & lips! He loved turning the book around & thought the Sir Sebastian Stockingbottomham was such a cool name :-) He loves Recess Monkey & was impressed that they are as good authors as singers! Great read aloud!

WOW!! This book is by far one of the best we have read this year! Our girls LOVE how interactive Dive in is. My 5 year old loves to mimic the motions. Her face comes alive when she hears how goofy she sounds saying Saltwater, Jellyfish, etc while moving her finger between her lips! 4 stars from this happy family. We look forward to reading many more books by Recess Monkey
