Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis Study Guide: 9780939616640: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: Great resource - As a visual learner, the diagrams and charts, and the organization of the book make it easier to understand the concepts in a tangible way. Really appreciate having this as a resource. Review: A superb text on diagnosis - The TCM Diagnosis Study Guide is definetly one for your bookshelf. This book makes a wonderful companion to other books on diagnosis, as it is an excellent resource for further study. The diagrams, summaries and charts make it an absolute necessity if you are more of a visual learner. The inclusion of "questions and answers for deeper insight" at the end of each section provide just that, deeper understanding of the concepts presented. The 200 question multiple choice test at the end of the book (answer key provided) will definetly help you to see how well you understand the material. I have done a lot of research into books on TCM, and I have found these 3 are the best to use in conjunction: 1- Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis Study Guide 2- Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine Volume I Diagnosis and Treatment 3- Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine Vol.II Materia Medica & Herbal Ref These 3 books make a wonderful "home study" course.

The Ultimate Book On TCM Diagnosis
A TCM practitioner once told me that the highest level of TCM diagnosis requires an encyclopedic mind. Visual inspection, smelling, asking and palpating are the only "tools" that a TCM practiitioner has. This book is divided into 4 main parts. What to look out for? What to ask the patient? What smells to detect? What do the different kinds of pulses indicate? Through all these diagnostic methods, the practitioner should be able to get a coherent picture of the syndrome that is affecting the patient. This book has accurate information, very well-presented with numerous tables and flow charts. But make no mistake, TCM diagnosis is anything but straightforward. Understanding the concepts and remembering the diagnostic reasoning in this book requires a lot of commitment. Definitely an essential text for any serious student of TCM.

Good Book
This book, like most TCM theories, has many of the essential ideas neatly outlined within it and it makes a great text for students to learn with, but make sure that you make up your own mind about the content because I know that I had a few discrepencies, but that is just personal preference rather than incorrect information. All in all, it is a book that helped me survive a semester of college and if you're ever after an insight into basic TCM theory, the only other book I would turn to is Giovanni.

Awesome book, makes TCM diagnosis as simple as a day on the beach.
This book is superb. Very well written, easy to follow. Near Maciocia's work (whois also superb, but dense) it is like a romance. I loved it and recommend. Would love to find more books that make TCM so easy.

Great foundations of TCM book
Loved this book! It breaks down the foundations of TCM theory, better than what I was explained to me in at my institution.

This is a phenomenal resource that is an absolute must have for anyone interested in TCM. The woman seems to value charts and flowcharts as much as I do and is a master at creating them. Her explanations are very clear and totally accessible (provided you look up a few medical terms as you go along). This is one of those rare books that has you grasping the material super fast. She's clearly a gifted teacher and I'd give her 10 stars if I could. I'm a Westerner self-learning TCM. This book makes other TCM books much easier to understand. If you're a Westerner eager for good TCM resources, Peter Holmes' "Western Energetics" (2 book series) is a must have, and you'll get way more out of his stuff after Qiao helps you understand the "why" behind trying to sink the qi.

Do not let the relatively low price fool you! It is an incredible book. A lot more practical and useful than those $150 - 200 books out there. A real treasure. The book is detailed, but not bloated, every word is important. Has lot of charts to summarize and visualize the differences among patterns. There are also questions and answers to clarify differences between patterns and gain in depth practical knowledge such as "How to differentiate asthma due to Lung Qi deficiency from that due to Kidney Qi deficiency?" (page 165). There are also additional 200 test questions in multiple choice format to practice exam testing. Essentially the book walks you through diagnosis step by step and teaches theory at the same time. A great balance between theory and practice. A must have for all practitioners. An incredibly study guide for students and a reference for practitioners. Grab one before it goes out of print.

This book is a wonderful resource for any TCM student. So much better than the textbook we were required to purchase for class. The explanations are very clear, and it's especially helpful for understanding the pulses. The practice questions are also very useful.
