Thin enough to be non-obtrusive profile but sturdy enough to work reliably
What I bought: I bought the 3 pack of the black slider. It is totally plastic and no magnet. My devices: MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 & Samsung Galaxy 6How it works: Really well! The tiny little plastic slide cover sticks on with a tape adhesive. It fits over the webcam with no interference to the camera while in open position (you'll see that in the pic showing a photo from PhotoBooth). I was concerned that the plastic would be too thick for my MacBook Pro Retina laptop lid to close properly and this is not the case. As you can see in the photos, there is no interference with closing the laptop. When I'm using my laptop and the slider is in the closed position, the camera is 100% blocked (which I tested in PhotoBooth and Skype). It also fits nicely on my Samsung Galaxy, however, it's because I have a Rhinoshield as a phone case, so it already sticks out a little bit. If I didn't have the Rhinoshield, I think the slider may stick out a little more than my liking. It works extremely well on both devises. It slides open and closed with ease and it stays in place. I'm not seeing any cons. When I do, I'll update this review. Why I bought it: I have had sleep/wake issues with my laptop and wanted to avoid any possible interference from a magnet, since the magnets in the laptop lid are what triggers the sleep/wake functions.

Like any reasonable person in the 21st century
Update: May 2018I've had this over a year and it's still working great! The adhesive hasn't budged and the mechanism of sliding still works perfectly. I'm always glad to have it on there when I remember the surveillance people living inside my computer. I'm also glad for it when I see classmates who have stuck stickers or tape over their cameras. Mine just looks AND works so much better!Original Review: April 2017Like any reasonable person in the 21st century, I am extremely paranoid about the amorphous menace that lives in the internet and is probably watching me via my devices when I don't know it. I used to hand-wave this away, and then one day I noticed the little light on my webcam lit up even though I hadn't opened FaceTime in months. Probably no one was spying on me, but ever since then I've kept a little something covering the webcam. Previously it was washi tape, but I finally decided to upgrade to these when I was buying them anyway as a birthday gift. The set of 3 was much more economical than buying them individually, so I went with it.I was worried that it would be too bulky or interfere with the laptop closing, but it doesn't. It's really a very tiny little thing--it fits on a fingertip. The adhesive seems to be the right strength to stay on easily but not take half the finish with it if you want to remove it or if you need to reposition it during application. It hasn't budged since I put it on about a week ago.The little disk slides easily back and forth and completely covers the camera lens. When you open the camera you see nothing but black; slide it over and there you are! Make sure to be at a flattering angle, lest you startle yourself.I put one on mine, one on my son's, and gave the third to a friend as a birthday gift. Each one went on smoothly, operates perfectly, and makes Foucaultian paranoia just a little bit more convenient.

They look so nice and so functional.
I really quite like these. I got a 3 pack, used them on my Kindle Fire, Surface Pro 4 and my HP G3 laptop at work. They are much nicer looking than a sticker, piece of tape, or a little piece of post-it note.I do see others complaining about how the install is hard because it's small, but smaller is better for me in this case, it blends right in, and I havent had any trouble with the outline eclipsing the cam view when it's on. It looks just like it belongs. The one thing that I can see as being an issue is that I don't think that the adhesive is strong enough and although it hasn't slid around much for me I'm not hard on them at all, so I wonder about those who would be more active with their tech toys. I definitely think it would be a waste for my younger ones, I don't think they would last a week on one of my teenagers smart phones the way they slide them in and out of their pockets constantly.~~~~ Update~~~~ I was contacted directly and offered a refund due to my criticism about the adhesive, which although was appreciated, I wasn't fishing for nor did I take the refund. I am thankful for the personal attention and the ethical offer to "make things right"
