Who knew there were so many hidden sugars in my diet?
I thought this book was really easy to read, and is not boring at all. There is a lot of interesting information in it, and it has really changed the way I look at sugar. As soon as I finished reading the first half of the book, the same day I received it, I immediately went online and bought a copy for my friend and had it sent to her. It's just really impactful, it makes you realize that sugar is not just about calories, it affects your health in so many ways. Before, I would try to eat less than 1000 calories a day, just so I could have a couple hundred calories left over by the end of the day to have some ice cream or another treat. And my weight loss was completely stalled. After I read this book, and started listening to her podcasts, I'm looking at my health in a whole new light, and have even lost 1 inch from my waist in the past couple of weeks, even though I'm eating a lot and am almost never hungry anymore. Also, more importantly, my late afternoon fatigue has gone away and my skin has cleared up. Basically, she has you on a plan where you gradually reduce your sugar intake in 2 cycles. You also give up soy, gluten, non-fat dairy and artificial sweeteners. But, on the plus side, you don't have to give up coffee, or carbs, and in fact you're encouraged to eat low-sugar carbs like lentils and quinoa or wild rice. I really hope to stick to this plan for a lifetime, it brought my attention to all the hidden sugars in my diet, and has changed the way I think about sugar.

Surprisingly motivational and full of knowledge
On today's era where fat is deemed chubby and obese seems cute and funny, this a book which will try to change all that.This book is both an eye opener and an instruction manual for many of us which is very conscious of our health and our looks. We won't separate the two because this book many times told us that good health equals good looks.I am a gym instructor, highly motivated, healthy eater and for most of my life I seem to know what is and what is not the "right" food. This book opens me to the fallacy and the facade those "right" foods gave me. I haven't fully realized that I was on a long plateau of my health plan. Never did I realize that I can be better, feel better and look better. Many things here reminded me of those things that are pretty basic but is often overlooked like the necessity and benefits of water for our bodies. Still many from this book are new for me and I am honestly surprised to know many things from them.So many health oriented books, diet instruction books and "be fit" books out there but never will they oust this one. The author wrote a "technical" book without showing how technical the subject is. She used humor, light phrases and common terms but still manage to retain the seriousness of the topic. I like the way she titled each topic and like the way she gives a link or cross refer many topics in her book. I love the simple way she shows how to "calculate" our food and love the way she shows us the top10 best and worst of things in this book.Normally a health oriented book are plain and simple instruction book fitted with so many pictures. This one didn't enrich itself with images but with explanations and showcases of successful practitioners. A very unique way of handling such hard and "sensitive" topic. Kudos to the author and good luck to all.

Amazing Lifestyle Changer!
This is really a great program. The reason I give it only four stars is that the writing can be a bit redundant. Some of the details are a bit vague too. The diet itself really works! You don't have to spend a ton of money if you truly understand the program. Lentils and Quinoa are an easy way to start for vegetarians. I feel great and eating healthier without being deprived. Lost 8 pounds in first 4 weeks, about 6lbs during intense 2 week cycle. Continuing to lose weight while being less strict, a total of 13 lbs in 7 weeks. More energy. Have control over my cravings. Best thing I ever did. Wish I would have done it sooner. Over the years my diet was getting closer to this, so there was really only sugar and wheat to modify. We had already been drinking green smoothies for breakfast. Therefore this lifestyle change didn't seem too huge to me after the first week.

So Far, It's Working!
The following review was written for the Sugar Impact Diet Cookbook, but was actually meant for this book, so this is a repeat: This lady is heavy on the hype and a little overboard for my taste with the rah-rah pep rally talk, but...having said that, the book makes total sense, the plan is relatively easy to follow, and J.J. backs it all up with research and medical videos. (The reader should be sure to watch the videos if s/he needs a medical basis for what's in the book.) J.J. spends a lot of time laying the foundation for her diet plan, but it's all worth the read. It gave me a good basis for following what she says. Just by changing my eating habits, I've already lost over 15 lbs. which for an on-and-off again dieter like myself is amazing. The diet doesn't feel like a fad diet, but an eating regime change that works. Despite her writing style, I'd recommend this diet for anyone who is concerned about food intake, especially sugar. It's amazing how much we've been deceived by manufacturers and J.J. does a good job of pointing this out. She also does not throw the baby out with the bath water and is most of the time very clear about what's science and what's not. I found this book by accident, but it was a great stroke of luck for me!

Don't get me wrong- cutting back on sugar is really important. But- the remedies in this book were a little unrealistic for me.
This book is informative and reminds us of all of the hidden sugars we eat. But it was too technical for me, and the recipes are complicated and, (the bane of diet books everywhere) require you finding specialty ingredients which the authors invariably claim are easy to find and almost equally invariably are NOT. I know I have to cut back on sugar, and this gives lists of things to avoid, which is useful, and reminds me A LOT of the damage that too much sugar does, but I wish the dietary changes were a little easier and more mainstream. I particularly am not a fan of juicing, so to be told that was pretty much the only way to get all the veggies I needed was kind of disappointing.

Simple and well laid out
This is a simple read and has so much information that everyone should know.... We're unknowningly sabotaging ourselves. What I like most is that it's broken down into do this/not that - here's why and here are the cheat sheets to refer back to.

Vous vous tapez 3 paquets de gâteaux après le repas !? Et vous n'arrivez pas à vous discipliner ? Ce livre vous expliquera pourquoi. Notamment il indique les faux amis (aliments généralement connus comme salés mais qui sont en réalité plein de sucre). Il indique aussi, comment faire cesser progressivement le cycle infernal des envies de sucre. Vous croyez que vous savez vous nourrir ?! Vous vous trompez, lisez ce livre. Vous perdrez du poids, améliorerez votre santé et surtout vous stabiliserez votre état mental de base via une meilleure compréhension des flux hormonaux générés par telle ou telle alimentation. C'est simple, il devrait y avoir des cours de nutrition dans les écoles sur la base de ce genre de livre.

Dropped 3 dress sizes after reading this book and 12 months later I have not put a single pound back on!
Wow!!!! JJ Virgin is amazing, you have to read this book! I lost 3.5 stone in less than 12 months, what did I do? Read the book and cut sugar from my diet, it really is that simple! JJ talks about a man who loved cheesecake, if he went to a party he would demolish lots of the stuff, I knew I was a sugar addict as I had to have chocolate every day, I just could not do without it, but when you cut it from your diet you really don't want it anymore, the cravings just stop. I still have chocolate but in moderation and I don't crave it the same.I must admit, when JJ said she would cure me of my addiction I simply did not believe her, no way would I be like the people in the book but I am and I can't believe it.I have always been slim but as the years progressed I saw myself go up in size slowly but surely, after reading this book and following her advice I dropped 4 dress sizes and I am now a size 8 and over 12 months later I have not put a single pound back on and I feel amazing! I am a 57 year old woman and have never felt so good! Give yourself the best present ever, get the book, put it into practice and see the results for yourself!

Great book, lots of great info and lots of on line freebies.
Yes we know we should not eat sugar but there are so much hidden sugars she made me aware of.Great book on sugar, it's only been a week if that and I have lost one pound already.A must. Love her 4X4 15 min work out.Thank you.
