This is the best hula hoop I've every purchased.
I don’t usually do reviews online but I feel I need to on this purchase. This hula hoop and service definitely deserve a good review.I am 4ft 11 and a half (150cm) with a waist size of 31”, I am 105.2lbs (just weight myself) and I really NEED a hula hoop to tone my waist before my big day in June 2017. I apologise for a long review in advance. The last time I really hooped (minimum 500 hoops a day) was when I was around 16 and back in those days there was only a choice between plastic and wood. Then in 2008, I bought a detachable hoop that had magnetic massage balls.. Made of pure plastic/pvc. Too heavy.. I don’t really know the real weight but it felt lik 6lbs or 7lbs and that HURTED a lot!! (I don’t recommend that for beginners). I used it three times, only doing around 10 hoops/rounds, I was bruised and then I just left it aside and eventually threw it away. It was just too heavy. Some people might like the feeling of something digging into their waist and gut but it just felt uncomfortable for me. It really hurts. A year later 2009, I bought the ‘noodle’ hula hoop.. I tried it once and gave up.. (could only attempt 5 hoops/rounds) It just was very sloppy and heavy. Maybe I wasn’t good enough. It wasn’t easy and that went into trash as well. Then in 2010 I bought a detachable weighed hoop. It was 42” in diameter and 5lbs. Not good either but I managed to do 40 rounds and I was bruised. It was large and it bruised me. I gave it to a friend who wanted it.On Sunday 7 May, it just daunted on me that I only have four weeks and a bit left until my wedding then on Monday 8 May 2017 I started doing my research on hula hoop, what weight and size I should be looking for according to my height. I didn’t want to buy one that I wouldn’t really use and don’t want it ended up in the trash again. I’ve looked at more than a hundred hula hoops online (not just Amazon) and also went to many stores to look at and physically feel the hoops. I read all the pros and cons and customer reviews online and at the end of my research, I knew what I wanted. I wanted a hoop that is between 2.5lbs to 3lbs and the inner diameter I needed would be between 34inches to 38inches. (for my height 4ft 11 and a half / 150cm).Finally, on Wednesday 10 May, I made up my mind, I ordered this one (DYNAMIS). Despite one bad review, which I disagree on, I still got this one. It doesn’t sound dumb at all and yes it did not come with instructions but it’s not really that hard to master.. Not like you’re building a rocket. Difficulty level was zero.My hoop arrived on time today and I quickly assemble it.. It took me 6 seconds to put all 6 segments together.. Really easy.. Just slot it in until you hear a click (wiggle it, you’ll hear the click). For the 6th segment, it was somewhat unaligned but I just propped up the hoop, pushed down a little, wiggled and ‘click’. Effortless. 6 segments (27” inner diameter), a little small but I could still hoop. I then added the 7th (easy to assemble). Then the 8th segment (36” inner diameter).. a little tricky but still not rocket science.. All you have to do is put one side of your hoop behind your ankle the use your hand to push forward the opposite side of the hoop.. Slot it in, wiggle a bit and click.. EASY!!! Disassembling this hula hoop was really easy too. Just press the part where it shows where the button is.. (marked with a white circle), then pull.. Also very easy!I got the DYNAMIS (2.5lbs – 3lbs).Weight: with 8 segments in, it weighs the same as a 3lb dumbbell. (doesn’t feel heavy, especially with all 8 segments in, which is 3lbs).Size (inner measurements): 6 segments is 27 inches / 8 segments is 36 inches. (I’m using 8 segments)Thickness: 1.6 inches (feels comfortable)I initially thought I needed a thin hoop but this one at 1.6” feels comfortable.Since putting the 6 segments together, have done 300 hoops/rounds. Then did 100 hoops with 8 segments. The sides of my waist feels tighter and it’s a little tender but after 15 mins of resting, I did another 100 hoops/rounds with ease. My waist feels tender but not unbearable. I didn’t think I was able to hoop but I picked it up very fast. The difference between 6 and 8 is big….8 segments (36” inner measurement) can do slower movements and is definitely easier to hoop and it’s easier to keep up.6 segments (27” inner measurement) requires faster waist movement, if you slow down, it’ll fall but if you’re quick enough, you can use your hips to lift it back up.(The larger the hoop, the slower it turns).Overall I am ecstatic on my purchase and I know this is the ONE hoop that will not end up in the trash. I’m wondering if they sell individual segments. I wouldn’t mind adding one more and trying a little larger.Totally recommend this. I love it so much!! I hope with the hula hooping, exercising and eating right I’ll get from waist size 31” to 28” in less than four weeks. Wish me luck!!!I added 3 photos under this review. It shows the inner measurement of both the 6 and 8 segments. The 3rd photo is the measurement from my tummy to the outside edge of the hoop, which is around 28.5 inches. This for me feels comfortable and easy to control and the hoop doesn’t fall (it’s 8 segments). For those who are larger in size, you might be more comfortable buying a larger size one at 3lb.Note: The way you measure your ideal hoop size is use a measuring tape and measure from 1 to 2 inches above your belly button down to the floor (bare foot). What I got is 36” and it is 2” above my belly button.Hope this helps.

Painful at first, but stick with it!
I was a clumsy kid and never really got the hang of hula hooping, but decided it seemed like a fun way to burn some calories and relieve stress. I'm not gonna lie, it took me almost 4 days of trying to be able to actually keep the hoop up, and I am still covered in pretty nasty bruises from the process, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. After many YouTube videos, I've finally learned to do something I always wished I could and have found that hooping is an amazing stress reliever.

Perfect weight for good workout, but not too difficult
I was a little concerned that the pieces wouldn't stay together with regular use, but that has not been an issue at all. It's actually easier to use than an unweighted hoop.

Retro fun.
Love it...tender sides for the first week, but very useful and FUN! I'm 60yo and the weight is perfect.

Very hard to use
This hula hoop is really hard to use! It’s nothing like the ones I used as a kid. I can get it going for 3-4 revolutions but then it falls to the ground. Every time. I just can’t seem to get the hang of it. Now it’s just another piece of exercise equipment in the basement pile.

Take your workout with you on vacation!
Adjustable. I use all sections. I put on the cordless headphones and rock and roll dance inside the hoop. Great exercise, indoor in open area or outside. Great rainy weather exerciser. You may bruise some at first but that doesn't last long. Like how I can pack it up and transport. Easy to take apart and put together. It's weighted so harder to have it move up and down. I can't do that anyway.

Great for learning and travel.
Enjoy this hoop. The weight makes it easier than a kid's hoop. This one is 36in/100cm so a little more work for a 6ft/1.87m male to dominate than a larger one. Fits in my 50L backpack along with 2+ weeks of clothes etc. The foam will tear when it scrapes cement surfaces.

Love that it can be used with less links or all links for greater workout challenge. The weight is light enough not to bruise but still enough to give a workout. The padding does a great job of keeping bruises from forming and covering the connection areas.
