Outstanding Album & Superb 100 g Vinyl
Camera Obscura is one of my favorite bands. Disagree with the disparaging comparisons to Belle and Sebastian (another band I enjoy). They absolutely stand on their own. While a lot has been said about this album, I wanted to provide some insights to the 100 g vinyl with remastered sound. Overall, it has a warm, clear, with a nice full and separated sound. The record sleeve inside is slick, glossy, heavy cardboard with lyrics on one side and another interesting photo of the band on the other side. If you like vinyl, definitely get this version. It also came with a free download. I wish their other albums were available as 100 g versions, since this sounds better to me than the other vinyl recordings. Finally, if you get a chance to see them live, do it...got to see them in a rare performance in Omaha, June 2013...fantastic!

Camera obscura
Underachievers please try harder is one of those albums that make you feel good from beginning to end. The melodies and harmonies are perfect. I could go on and on about how good it is but I will say this, Buy it and listen a few times. You will feel the whole album envelope you.

Please Reissue
Copies are selling for $100 on the used market.Time to reissue this great album and put the money grubbers out of business selling $100 copies. Ridiculous price gouging.

dont read this just buy the cd.
Camera Obscura are so underappreciated in my eyes, but maybe that's good in a way.. If you are more familiar with their most well known albums My Maudlin Career and Let's Get Out Of This Country, and enjoyed Desire Lines, then you need to buy this. The sound is slightly different to the lavish string production of French Navy, or the reverb soaked Country Mile for instance, it is more acoustic and pared down. The comparison to Belle & Sebastian is inevitable here, but Camera Obscura successfully created their own unique style of their own eventually, and this record shows how Traceyanne Campbell developed her songwriting style. They make songs that warm the heart and reward the soul with their arrangements and clever lyrics. The band accompanies her voice here perfectly. Of course, she isn't the only vocalist on show here and the 'duet' Before You Cry is one of their career highlights. Suspended From Class is a nice opener, and precedes a very easy and comfortable hour or so of listening. Standouts for me here are Books Written For Girls, Keep It Clean, Lunar Sea and the aforementioned Before You Cry.A Sisters Social Agony has a nice retro vibe so authentic that it makes me think if Camera Obscura were around in the 1960s then they would be as famous and revered as all of the alltime greats. Buy it and show them some recognition for being one of the best bands this century.

Scottish indie at its best...
An excellent album that has great lyrical insight and tuneful melodies. It requires to be listened to rather than be played in the background as it is fundamentally relaxing and reflective. The whole product is well designed and well recorded.

Camera obscura get better and better they are really maturing into something great, each album is better than the last only fault is they seem to be slow in writing new material ...is that a fault taking your time ??
