Cora Seton at her best
This book has an unusual premise-modern day women so stressed, tired of the daily grind etc that they plan to turn back the clock and live as if it were still the 18th century in the world of the Jane Austin books. Quite a reach some might say but this really works. Haven't we all been pushed to the limit and wished for things as they were "when I was a kid" or in that glorious 1950's time of the TV shows and movies? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I applauded the characters sticking to their decisions and making it work. Sure, a bit of the 21st century creeps in. You can't mix SEALs with heroines without some spill over, but I loved this book and the entire series. So suspend reality for a while and just enjoy. Afterall, isn't this exactly why we read romance fiction--to step into another life for a while. Don't wait! Get the entire series now!

Peaceful, sustainable, romantic
I was apprehensive dipping into this new series, but I've loved every book. This is the first in the series, and it's probably a good idea to start with it because it gives context for the rest of the series. As an English major, the idea of returning to a lifestyle of simplicity without electronic devices holds much appeal. I can see what motivates Riley and her friends, and, well, Boone sounds hot enough to motivate me regardless! Boone's decision to focus on sustainability after a career as a Navy SEAL tells a great deal about his experiences in that role, and the constant curveballs he encounters and deals with keep the story going. While it's hard to choose a favorite from Cora Seton's books, this one's up there in contention. It gives a message of hope that I, as a reader, appreciate.

Practicality and Romance
Boone Rudman and Riley Eaton have rediscovered each other under unusual circumstances. Riley was the young tomboy who followed Boone and his three buddies (the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) on their misadventures as teenagers. Then they all left for the Navy. Riley was left with an unrequited crush on Boone and the need to find a future without him. Returning to Chance Creek turns out to be the twist of fate they both need. Boone and "the Horsemen" are out of the service and seeking to find a way to help save the world. Riley and her friends have returned to find a simpler life and to learn to enjoy the beauty of life. Due to requirements of their individual projects they must find a way to work together. Their projects are not mutually exclusive, but both these focused, determined individuals must find a way to work through the spector of reality TV, living with Jane Austen values, preparing a community of sustainability and falling in love. It's a wondrous tale of friendship, loyalty, determination and goals. Mix in the delightful characters that inhabit Chance Creek and you'll find a book that you can't put down, and you'll want to read again and again.

Intriguing read
I really enjoyed this story. An interesting mix of modern day with Regency. Looking forward to reading more about the others in the group. I honestly don't remember how I came across acquiring this novel, but I'm glad I did. I will note that it is possible that I received it for free in exchange for an honest review though.

GREAT START YO NEW SERIES!!
Boone Rudman is just getting out of the SEALs after 13 years. He is coming home with his 3 friends; Jericho, Clay and Walker. He has a proposal he presented to a billionaire and it was accepted. He has to live 6 months on the 'land' along with many requirements to win the childhood respite/vacation family estate of Riley's Uncle, who had always promised to leave it to her upon his death. He sold it instead. Chaos ensues.Riley Eaton, degree in fine arts. She loses her job and is at loose ends as are her friends;Savannah, Nora and Avery. Each girl has a story. This one is Riley's. The girls move into the homestead with regency England apparel and mindset.Hero Rating. 5+⭐️Heroine Rating. 5+⭐️Sexual Tension Rating. 5+⭐️Sex Scene Frequency Rating 5⭐️Storytelling Rating 5+⭐️StoryEnding Rating. 5+⭐️Plot Development Rating. 5+⭐️Character Development Rating. 5+⭐️Dialogue Rating 5⭐️Overall Review Rating 5+⭐️Would I Reread This Book! ABSOLUTELY!Would I Read Future Books? ABSOLUTELY!I bought this book and was so glad I did. This is the start of a new series, and I was only confused about the location for a second. It was clarified in the book. That was wonderful. This is the second location in Montana and not about the brothers as I first thought.I'm a huge fan of SEALs and this locked it up for me. The characters are wonderful, the girls are genuine and wacky and the guys are gentlemen. Boone is amazing. This book was wonderful.I can't wait to read the next one.Great job , Cora!!Seeing them grown up and respectful to Riley, Tagalong, was inspirational. It warmed my heart. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.I received no remuneration for this review.

Ridiculous and annoying
ive liked a lot of her stuff and a few quite a bit- the marines mail order etc but this one I hated from the beginning and I'm irritated that I bought the audible version as well. The whole premise of 4 (or 5 I'm not sure) young smart educated women decide to sell everything move to Montana (I think) and decide to discard all modern day possessions (except laptops)burn their regular clothes (they couldn'tve tossed them in a closet?) and dress and live as if during Jane Austins time complete with bonnets etc. I audibly groaned numerous times thinking "are you kidding me" when one or more of the characters did something stupid - she lost me completely when savanagh (savanagh???) told Riley it was improper to be seeing Boone (Boone???) without a proper chaperone... that one had me saying "enough" deleting it and moving on to another selection. The whole thing appeared insipid to me. While I was still a little interested in a few of the characters (walker) there is too much silly dialogue and unbelievable storyline to sludge thru to make it appealing enough to pursue.
