1. Size: Leg length does not really match waist size, looking at the American reviews and the size guide I decided to go XL as it states 32" is in range. It is not. With the elasticated waist I would say 34" is the absolute minimum if not 36". There is, however, a draw string (the American reviews state there is not and the photos do not show this) so they are warerable for me as I shall use them in my unheated house, saving the planet!!! The advantage of the larger waist size is that the legs are nearly long enough (my leg size is regular). Unless you have shorter legs than average you are not going to get a perfect fit.2. The heating pads are much smaller than the photos suggest and the ones shown on the lower leg on me are on or just below the knee.Difficult to know how much they will serve my needs until the winter arrives

I hesitated about getting these trousers because of some of the reviews. They were right, the trousers are incredibly short. I feel like Michael Jackson wearing these trousers. I am 5 foot 5 and bought the small and it is about 4 or 5 inches too short.It is too silly to wear on its own as it is too short, but as no one else seems to be selling any right now, I will keep them as I can wear them under other trousers that look normal and keep warm.I would not even wear them in the house as they are, without anything on top of them, as they look too silly and too too short, even with socks on.The description and pictures are very misleading as the man wearing the trousers has normal trousers on, that do NOT look like the trousers sent to me.I have not worn them outside the house yet, just tried them on for warmth and adding on another pair of trousers on too for some form of normalicy. They need their tailor to add on an extra 5 inches of length.With the right battery power bank, it keeps me warm indoors. Red can become too hot, and at times blue isn't warm enough so I toggle between the two..

These trousers are warmed up by using a rechargeable battery pack.(not supplied) You would just pop the pack into one of the zip up pockets and then when you want the heated pads to come on you press and hold a discreet button for 3 seconds to activate it. Very clever design and super warm even without the heating elements. I purchased medium which fitted a 34 inch waist. Would have liked them a bit longer but I'm happy with my purchase.

Missus used these for half a day over her kevlar jeans and still ended up with a burnt leg...do NOT buy these...

These trousers are lined with a very soft velvet like material that is very nice. They are powered by a battery pack that you would use to recharge your phone...not included bur cheaply purchased on amazon although I will probably wear these without the extra warmth as they are so snuggly! A little short for me but that means I can wear jogging bottoms over the top if required. Very good!
