Beyond the Masquerade: Unveiling the Authentic You

This is a great book, but be ready for confrontation of self pride, primary focus of this book! Not everyone is ready for this topic, but it's excellent in forcing one to look at themselves and asking..."Do I have pride?" The answer is YES! Then how do you deal with it, becomes the real issue. I am currently using this in a MOMs Bible study and it's been tough, but absolutely great for those who are seeking to reflect Jesus in their life and not self...not easy but VICTORIOUS!

Juli does a great job of helping women find who they really are in Christ. In this book, she really helped me get to know who I was, and how to let go of the masks I hold on to.

Our church is using this book for one of our "Summer Growth Group" options. The women faciliating/teaching the sessions are excited and hope that our discusssions over the 6-week period will be a blessing to all who attend.

This is the meat and potatoes of Christianity - beware. It will challenge you and the way you have always thought of yourself. She is fabulous author.

Appreciate the message of this book

A RARE GEM OF TRUTH CONFRONTINGI am a bible study teacher and I've read hundreds of Christian books over the years. I have to say that Juli's book on unmasking and living the TRUE life of a Christ follower is one of the very best. But warning here: this book is not for the faint hearted - not for the superficial Christian who just wants to feel good. This book is designed to help us all truly look into the mirror and own up to what we see, submit to Christ and allow Him to work in our hearts and minds. While Juli is gracious in how she presents the truth regarding our masks, the very nature of the subject is difficult for all fallen beings to face........namely, that we hide from God, others and even ourselves. We mask for a variety of reasons instead of actually walking in the light of the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.I strongly recommend this book to anyone who really wants to grow in Christ, wants to be freed from the ridiculous game playing of the world, and who has tried to find joy and happiness.........in all the wrong places. I greatly admire Ms. Slattery for the courage it had to have taken to write such a powerfully convicting book and the humility it would have taken to unmask herself as she's writing to all of us.I am praying about teaching her book in class for my serious minded women believers. Thank you, Juli, for submitting to the Holy Spirit and accomplishing what He asked you to do!

What more can I say, it changed my life for the better. You won't be able to read this without making a change yourself too. Masks will come off and the love of God will envelope you for who you are - HIS BELOVED CHILD! Julie (the author) has a shoot from the hip style that is easy to relate to and gets to the nitty gritty of self-esteem issues. If you want a fluffy hug, watch the big purple dinosaur.
