How wide does the clamp measure at the highest setting? I'd like to make sure it will clamp to my counter.

I see pics of shell pasta and other shapes but only see that machine has a spaghetti attachment, am I missing something or is it false advertising?

You could say its false advertising. But the standard pasta machine will make spaghetti, lasange and fettucine. You have to buy other tools to make the special shapes. They are normally made from pasta lasagna sheets. I purchased a couple of tools to make ravioli.
