Powerful writing
This book, recommended by a friend, is beautifully written, scientifically based, and addresses our current human condition on this earth in a profoundly unique and spiritual way. A must read for anyone even casually interested in human and planetary functioning and health.

Easy to read and full of enlightening info
I'm only half way through this book, but if the 2nd half is anything like the 1st I know it will be incredible. I consider myself fairly well versed in issues of sustainability and climate change, but I've had so many jaw-drop moments while reading. At first I found the constant additions of quotes and side stories pretty distracting, but as I read further they definitely add to the gravity of what he is talking about. Amazing book. Should be a "must read" for high school seniors.Highly recommend.

Balance is not boring
Read Suzuki's wonderful ecological book and read Thom Hartmann's The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight and read Paul Rogat Loeb's Soul of A Citizen. You'll know more than the average idiot, for sure Suzuki is a superb observer of nature.

Great reading; an opportunity to rethink economics and what to do for our children
I remember liking a review about Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn; it said something like "I now refer to books as read before of after Ismhael". This is a milestone alike, the written witness that we can live in a different way. A more harmonious one, for ourselves and our kids, and, most importantly, their kids.

This is a wonderfully enlightening book without being dogmatic or pedantic
This book should be required reading in high schools. It is written as different essays about individual subjects that all relate back to the main theme: the communion and oneness of nature (not just the organic part, either) and humans. This is a wonderfully enlightening book without being dogmatic or pedantic.

Required Reading
This is the definitive treatise and ecological primer for us lay people who want to understand enough science to make intelligent choices but don't have the necessary background. David Suzuki possesses both the scientific knowledge and the communicative skills to provide what we need. This book should be required reading. Period.

Loved this book so much!
What an amazing book! A reminder of how we fit into our environment ... I had seen David Suzuki in the movie "I Am" and was intrigued by his positive spirit and knowing enthusiasm about our planet. Plain spoken but oh so knowledgeable. Thank you, David!

We emerge and manifest the sacred even in a secular world.
The overall conception of how the sacred level of consciousness permeates all matter.

Must read ... Please!
This is one of those books that should be required reading for everyone. David Suzuki has an amazing manner in presenting the importance of the critical issues without being abrasive. Even though I am not a scientist, I am most concerned about the environment; and I found the book is easy to read and very engaging. Having now read it twice (once in hardcover, and now on Kindle), I highly, highly recommend this without reservation.

WHEN IT COMES TO SUZUKI, EXPECT TO BE INFORMED
My husband and I are fans of David Suzuki and this book delivers as do almost anything we have read from this avant-garde author. Sit comfortably and enjoy the fascinating updated version of an already great book that has been fine tuned in a way only he can.Sharon
