Look and feel of a MUCH more expensive chuck!
With some apprehension and caution, I ordered this chuck, thanks to your reviews and customers who answered my question on it. I was blown away when I received it. Honestly, this chuck has the quality look, feel, and finish of a $119 chuck. I would not expect any higher quality from a Jacobs. Having been a toolroom machinist for 20+ years (and a tool designer for another 20 years), I've had my hand around a good many drill chucks. I have a high level of experience with quality tools, and appreciate good quality. I purchased this chuck to replace the junk chuck that came on my 10" WEN benchtop drill press I just purchased. The chuck that came with it has never drilled a hole, and never will. I knew out-of-the-box that it had to be upgraded. The old chuck has been disassembled, and I will use the chuck body to machine a 33JT to 6JT or 3JT adapter for future use. Shame you can't buy such adapter bushings.I can't speak to the runout of this chuck as I don't have a dial indicator to check it, but it's negligible, if any at all. And kudos to Victor Machinery Exchange for such fast shipping, even though it wasn't Prime. As ecstatic as I am about buying such a great quality chuck for so cheap (seriously, I carry more chump-change in the center console of my truck that what this chuck cost), it also gives me an ill feeling in the pit of my stomach, being acutely aware of the various machining, heat-treat, finish grinding, and final assembly processes that go into the manufacturing of this chuck. China never had an original thought, but they sure copy stuff like a boss, and no one can touch their prices.

Wonderful chuck with 0 amount of run out!
I worked at Boeing Airplane Company, E. Marginal Way South in Seattle WA for a number of years and am familiar with a lot of drill presses and parts. This is a very tight and precise chuck, ESPECIALLY for the money. You can buy some that are 80 to over 100 dollars, but for general drill press work, this one has 0 deg of run out on my drill press. REMEMBER to make sure the inside is of the chuck is free of ANY kind of debris along with the 33JT shaft and that the jaws are fully retracted inside the head and seat it with a dead blow hammer or wood piece and hammer and you are good to go. Many times there might be the slightest amount of oil or a small piece of dirt/wood, etc in the end of the chuck that goes to the taper and if there will cause problems. Make sure it's clean and the taper is clean, and you should have no problems. Great chuck!

Pretty good chuck
I purchased this chuck to replace the original on my 12" Craftsman drill press. I have been very pleased with it so far. It seems to be made very well. I cannot speak to it's durability since I have only had it for a short time, that is the reason I rate it a four. Although, the way it has performed so far, I doubt I will ever have to replace it. I definitely recommend this product.

Disappointed
I received this chuck as a lower cost replacement for my older 10inch Ryobi bench top press. I choose to keep the press as the spindle run-out measures .0005. Very nice for a small "cheaper" tool at this price range. When receiving the chuck I closed the teeth and 1 tooth does not close fully. What a disappointment. I considered returning but I'm not sure it's worth the effort or time for this.I placed the chuck and ran some additional measurements. The body dialed in at .0005 but the bit has considerable runout. Visibly noticeable. I am not expecting .0005 on the bit but visible wobble is just not acceptable.I noticed my chuck did not have grease applied as others mentioned... maybe a repackaged return... That is just not right. What a waste of my time and $$$.Ohh well. Take from my review what you will. Too bad, it had the makings of a nice affordable replacement but you can never count on Chinese made garbage. They never check their products or have quality control. Never. Will stick with buying American from now on when I can.1 star.At the price point for a true Jacobs I am in the market for a complete press upgrade now. This press and chuck may just serve as a sanding station in the future.

Great replacement for my old 1980s Duracraft SP30
I brought an old Duracraft SP30 drill press off craigs list and with horror I found the chuck was not quite right. I contacted Jacob's and they never got back to me (the scum) so I searched and searched. I discovered I needed a Jacobs 33 taper and came across this chuck from Amazon. I was impressed with the price and thought I would take the risk. The new chuck is great. Bigger than the old chuck, but this new chuck could take really small bits (unlike my old jacobs chuck that had grooves). It takes half inch bits also! I really felt I got a lot for my money as it is nice and big and solid. The chuck key is very nice with a rubber coating. Thank you amazon for being the only place I could find that sells Jacobs 33 taper chucks!!

Good value
Pros- Large and solid feeling- Feels tight and doesn't jiggle- The 3 'teeth' come together exactly flat when tightened all the way- Amazing price considering the pros- Nice rubberized keyCons- Comes with a little bit of dried on grease that should be cleaned off------------Overall, this is a good item. The price alone makes it likely to be the chuck you buy to replace one. I personally purchased it to replace a cheap chuck on a cheap drill press. My original cheap chuck was much smaller and had wiggle no matter how tight it was. It also made noise when drilling. This chuck changed all that, and for a great price.

Good Deal for the money...
Ordered this chuck to replace the well-used and battered chuck on my War Production Atlas Drill press. Chuck arrived quickly, well-packed, and installed easily. Chucked a 0.500" plug gage and rotated against a dial indicator and it showed a maximum runout of only 0.0005" which is pretty darned good for a press this old!! Very happy with the chuck. The old original keys also fit and work nicely. Not marked as to country of origin but very nicely finished.
